My oh my this one is going to sting for a while. tOSU certainly played good enough to win but UGA certainly showed some resilience.
Prior to the game my biggest concern was our receivers getting separation and CJ not using his legs to avoid pressure and make plays. CJ's play was simply outstanding in every aspect of the game. He always had deadly accuracy but his movement in the pocket to avoid sacks as well as making plays with legs set him apart from what he did during the entire regular season. I am fairly certain his stock just went way up and could see a top 5 pick in the NFL draft come his way.
I did go through the morning process and watch the game again just to see if I missed anything. I do give Kirby Smart credit as he made a brilliant call with that time out. Although watching it again I don't know if he actually got the call in prior to the snap. I think the only call that really bothered me was the hit on Harrison. How do you through a flag for a personal foul and after review they just pick it up. I could go on and on about the targeting rule but at bare minimum, that should have been at least a hit on a defenseless player. Instead of first and goal at the one it ended up being a field goal.
Regarding the venue I though it was pretty sweet as we had tickets on the 45 24 rows up. The scoreboard is a big circular scoreboard but if you are up to high you can't see it. We did hit the tailgate area outside of the stadium and UGA fans and were very generous with there beverages which made that a lot of fun. This game was one of the more exhausting games I have ever watch as both teams were virtually unstoppable. In the end UGA made the plays they needed in the 4th quarter. The fact we were able to go down the field and get into FG range shows a lot of the character of this team. Knowing the tOSU fan base I am sure they will be calling for a new DC in the offseason.
Walking out of the game was a very different experience especially the loss to LSU. LSU fans would get in your face to the point you felt like you were going to get into a fight. The UGA fans were very complementary and actually good to talk to on the way out. Not sure if it was due to the way the game was played or probably more likely they are a different breed of fan.
