High school baseball players ( and college players) get drafted every year by MLB franchises......hundreds of them, but they do not appear on MLB rosters before spending multiple seasons on the teams' assorted farm clubs...the very best prospects only, BTW. Hero, how come you are the only sports fan in the entire Western hemisphere that doesn't know this ?? Generally true but not in all cases. King James was special. Rarely is the general rule broken. It does happen.

Kobe Bryant went directly from high school to NBA stardom. I'm not an NBA aficionado but I think there were others also.

Yeah that Joe Nuxhall story is a trivia rarity. Cincy was desperate to fill a 1944 war time roster and resorted to Joe. At 15 he didn't get anybody out in his one brief appearance while giving up 5 walks and 2 hits and posted a 67.5 era. He disappeared in the minors for the next 8 years and came back to the Reds at age 24 in 1952 and had a solid 15 year MLB career with a .536 winning %

NHL is also very difficult, if not impossible, for high schoolers to go straight to the pros.
They just don’t hand the required physical maturity.

That certainly couldn't work in MLB or NFL and don't know about NHL.....do you, cpa ? Definitely agree in NFL and probably MLB as well, but to a lesser extent. MLB not so much about the physical aspect, but certainly the baseball IQ aspect. Not sure at all about hockey. NFL players are too big, too strong for that to work. Maybe a generational talent at QB, but probably not other positions.
