no one really responded to my other post on the PAC 12
I don't know how many posters on this board have been following the PAC 12 drama in pursuing a TV contract...
...but I think things look extremely dire for saving the conference. Unless some miraculous TV deal emerges, and they can add San Diego State and SMU, I think the PAC 12 is toast
This is unprecedented

If the PAC XII disappeared, would anyone outside of California notice?

If the PAC XII disappeared, would anyone outside of California notice? ya, I think thats an important point
These remaining schools are going to have to figure out who they are and want they want. They've been under the PAC 10 banner for so long, I don't think they've thought about their individual university athletic identities.
We know Washington and Oregon value themselves, and think they belong in the Big 10
What do the Arizona schools want?
I'm sure this situation wasn't want Utah and Colorado were expecting either, but its time to man up and stick up for themselves. The PAC-12 academic superiority illusion has been busted...in the end, academics don't mean much of anything in big money college football
There is going to be some hard choices to make and some massive swallowing of pride for some of these schools...
At this point I would be shocked if they pull through and stick together. The TV money isn't there...

I hope Washington and Oregon can get out before the fall.

If the Earth spun in reverse, flipping the time zones, would the Eastern most conferences be more likely to struggle ?

No, I don't think so. If the majority of the population is still in the East, the power would still be there

The PAC only has themselves to blame from their dinosaur commish Hansen who rejected progress towards anything resembling a playoff for the longest time to the next commish Larry Scott who bungled the PAC 16 plan in 2010 and the joke that was the PAC 12 Network. The arrogance of the individual schools certainly didn't help. They had a great setup having 12 well-rounded name brand universities seemingly protected by geography. Proud football programs like USC, Washington, and Oregon...hoops with UCLA and Zona.
Having the LA schools to go the Big Ten is not something I thought I would ever see. As it stands now, I hope the Big Ten puts them out of their misery by adding Washington and Oregon and maybe Stanford or Cal if they can pair with Notre Dame someday. The rest can merge with the leftover conference (Big 12.)

If the PAC 12 sank into the sea, I don’t think I would notice.
That certainly wasn’t the case 15 years ago.
Things are changing fast now
