Hen, I would say you are the baseball guru on this board. So what are your thoughts on the Reds. The are on a 11 game win streak and look like the real deal. Elly Dela Cruz has all the potential in the world. Is this a team just on a hot streak or are they a really good team? First time in many years I have gotten excited about baseball. I love the new rules to speed up the game plus the fact that the Reds games actually mean something now.

I went to the game Wednesday afternoon. While we were on the road I didn't get to follow the Reds much because we were always riding, eating and sleeping. I like how they never give up and Jonathan India appears to be the leader they needed. I hope they can continue to play well and the upcoming series with the Braves will be a great test.
Here's my question - do you think management knew what the hell they were doing when they dumped most of the team over the past couple years or is the team winning in spite of their inept ownership? My biggest concern is pitching. When they start playing better teams they're not going to be scoring as many runs so they'll obviously need to limit the opponents runs. I do like how the bullpen has somewhat solidified. Bottom line - it's late June and we still care about the season! Go Reds!!

I used to think both management and ownership was inept. A good friend of mine who follows the off season much more closely than I looked at what we gave up and what we got in return and was fully on board with what the management did. Easy to say that now but then again they do have a boat load of young talent. I do think this team will still be able to put up runs against the better teams. They did sweep the Astros and they certainly look confident. Again Congrats on your achievement and for such a great cause. If you have a link to where I can donate please send it to me.

Well, I'm not a BB guru but I'm also excited about this Cincy run......very exciting for Reds fans. I keep waiting for my underachieving, over paid Phillies to catch such fire.

I'm happy for Joey Votto. He's having a ball. Will this truly be his final season ?

And it's also really cool for Manager, David Bell, Who's a pure Cincy bred boy with a family lineage of Reds baseball

I do love the rule changes to speed up the game but this one lasted almost 3.5 hours. It is much much easier to handle when the games actually mean something.

Go Phillies !!!! They should be much better based on payroll. Frustrating but loveable team to follow with some quirky manager decisions. No way they're back in the post season this time.

How about Terry Francona? The Guards lineup for much of the first half had just about everyone underperforming and at one point the team was 21-28 in the weak AL Central. No one and I mean no one was really hitting well(Except Josh Naylor and Jose Ramirez although this still isn’t a great year for Jose) the team lost its second best pitcher in Tristan McKenzie for most of the first half and it’s number three pitcher has never really been right this year either. Really they are down three starting pitchers and have relied on rookies pitching for much of the first half of the season……. The Guardians finished last year at 92-70 as the youngest team in baseball and some had then as sleepers to come out of the AL. It’s easy to quit when you’re underperforming and injuries start to happen…… the fighting Terry Francona’s didn’t let that happen and I think the Battle of Ohio this year is going to include two first place teams!!!! Francona is a helluva manager though…….. I wouldn’t be suprised if the Guards despite the slow start make another run at 90 wins.

My Braves have 60 wins in fewer than 90 games.
