I used to keep up with football scholarship academic standards when they were more available. That gap was much larger then this. The SEC was dead last among all FBS conferences. Football does indeed 'just means more', no doubt. Academics definitely 'just means less'

They are a pretty robust university, with many different researchy aspects to them
my very first job was an internship with the Texas A&M Institute of Biosciences and Technology

Cool - how did you like it , Evil? For an internship, it was great. I've also worked with plenty of Aggies in oil and gas.
