It's been a long time since I was as excited about a football season as I am this year. Texas, so far, has managed to avoid key injuries in pre-season (knock wood!) We will have strong QB play. A MUCH better offensive line. Excellent WR's. We're 2-deep with good players on defense. Losing Bijan and Roschon at RB has to hurt a little. But, we've got a 3rd year guy who had 200 yards rushing in a single game last year. And, we have a freshman who was the the #1 RB on a few recruiting lists last year. I think we'll be fine there. This team is stacked and ready. There are position battles going on. The schedule is good, but not overly difficult. The Big 12 is competitive as always. But, we should have enough to talent to be favored over anyone in the conference. We do need to TACKLE better.... but, last year was better than the year before. So, I', hopeful we've turned the corner there. It would sure be good to win the conference in the last year! Who knows when we'll get another conference trophy!

ya I agree, I think they are primed
I think the key games are:
@ Alabama vs. Oklahoma Kansas State @ Iowa State Texas Tech
I think they will beat Alabama, but should they lose, that won't derail them.
They should be favored the rest of the way. And I think they'll beat Oklahoma again.
Kansas State is their biggest game besides Alabama. K-State will be pretty good again.
Iowa State is more of a trap game, and Texas Tech will be tricky again.
If Texas can pull it off, I could see 12-1 and possibly in the playoff

Given all the turmoil with the gambling allegations I'd be surprised if Iowa State gets to be bowl eligible.

Given all the turmoil with the gambling allegations I'd be surprised if Iowa State gets to be bowl eligible. Yea... Iowa State is screwed. They've suspended half their team. The road trip against TCU worries me the most. It'll be the 4th game in a row against decent teams. But, we SHOULD be able to win. Beating Bama would be a great win to build some confidence. But, as usual, it's the OU game that will make or break the season. We've not done well against the sucky Sooners in the past several years.

Oklahoma will be alot better, but not quite at that level yet...probably more of a 38-24 type win for Texas

Yes... that was AWESOME! I think if they'd continued playing, OU would STILL not have scored! I'm really bummed... our star Middle LB, DeMarvion Overshown just blew his knee out in the pre-season game against Seattle. I was looking forward to seeing how aggressive Dallas DT would be with him added to the mix. He was a STAR in that OU game.

Listened to the Big 12 update on Sirius yesterday. Couple of the guys brought up something I had forgotten about: Refs.
If Texas is going to win the Big12, they're going to have to do so convincingly because, the refs have been decidedly against us in every Big 12 game since news of the SEC move broke. It was bad last year. I can't imagine how bad it will be this year.
Texas Tech is projected to be good this year too. Basically, every team except Iowa State is projected to be 'above average'.

Lol. Very true
But, at least this year, we know what to expect. The league office does NOT want UT or OU winning the title this year.

After 2 weeks and the Alabama win, Texas looks massively superior to everyone on their schedule, except for KState Looks like a playoff run this year
