Disney has pulled all of its channels from Charter Spectrum, citing an impasse on fee negotiations.
This includes all ESPN related channels, ABC, ACCN, SECN, etc.
Disney, of course, stated that the timing of the pull is merely a "coincidence".
Yeah, sure - just a coincidence that it's the start of football season, fantasy football, and the US Open tennis.
15 million subscribers are affected nationwide.

ESPN channels have been riding the bundle cable tv / carriage wave for a long time. Grandma who never watches sports but had cable TV was helping make ESPN more affordable for us to watch all of these years. This is coming to an end. ESPN will soon offer stand-alone streaming for access. We will pay more overall for TV and ESPN will make less overall. We don't realize what a good "deal" we had with bundled cable TV back in the day as sports fans.

We moved to Spectrum this past April - great timing by us. I guess Disney needs to recoup all the money it's losing due to some questionable actions they've taken in recent years, including casting a black mermaid and hispanic Snow White. Oh well, hopefully most of Ohio State and the Bengal games are on other networks otherwise it's off to the sports bars for me.

We moved to Spectrum this past April - great timing by us. I guess Disney needs to recoup all the money it's losing due to some questionable actions they've taken in recent years, including casting a black mermaid and hispanic Snow White. Oh well, hopefully most of Ohio State and the Bengal games are on other networks otherwise it's off to the sports bars for me. Casting a Hispanic in a movie releasing next year caused this? This place keeps on giving. |

We don't realize what a good "deal" we had with bundled cable TV back in the day as sports fans. If we could go back in time, in a "way-back' machine, I'm sure you will find me predicting exactly this. Everyone derided the "cable bundle". They hated havig to pay for a bunch of crap channels they don't watch. I warned then, 'Be careful what you ask for'. Other people were subsidizing the things WE liked watching. Once it's all separated, and they can start charging YOU, just for the things they know YOU like, prices will go up... a lot. TV watching, with a myriad of streaming services is better in some ways.... but, much less enjoyable in others. 30 years ago, I could watch 2 different channels at the same time on one TV. I could choose ANY channel for either screen. I could make either screen whatever size I wanted. With one button press, I could immediately swap between the two and the sound would immediately switch with them. I sure can't do that today. |

I don't think it was the casting of a hispanic as Snow White that caused so much grief; It was the canceling of the 'dwarves. And, the revision of the story from being one about love to being just another "woman power' movie. |
