Looks like my daughter is going to take a 2 year work assignment and run a couple plants in Singapore and Malaysia - can’t believe it, the company has big plans for her.
They sent her over there for a week with her fiancé to check things out and I think ithey plan to move forward. Her wedding is in November, then Christmas and if the plan moves forward they’ll head to Singapore in early 2024. If they do, Mrs. Doc and I will be heading over next fall. There’s a place I never thought I’d visit.

Yes.... I've been there quite a few times. The private company I worked for a few years ago has a regional office there. It's a beautiful place, albeit and expensive place to live. It's very safe. There are people from ALL cultures there. LOTS of great food, from everywhere. Being essentially on the equator, sunrise and sunset are at the same time, every day, all year round. 12 hours of day and night. That's kind of odd. As you can imagine, it's tropically warm. But, it's more or less and island, so the temperature is moderated by the water.
Owning a car there is prohibitively expensive. Most companies provide a car service, or taxi vouchers. Public transportation is pretty good. Taxis are everywhere.
I would definitely work there for a few years. It's a very interesting place.
Maylaysia is a completely different world. Relatively rural, compared the bustle of Singapore. The people move slower. But, they're generally friendly.
Oh... and, almost everyone speaks English. The Brits ruled there a LONG time.
I'm not surprised that she's doing well. Her resume was one of the most impressive I ever saw. I REALLY DID hope to convince her to work for us. ;-) But, I'm very glad she found something even better.
