Assuming Michigan, Washington, FSU, Alabama, and Texas win, you would have:
1) Michigan 2) Washington of FSU 3) FSU or Washington
Based on past-precedent (not very meaningful) and the selection criteria, Texas should be a ceiling for Alabama and Alabama should be a ceiling for Georgia. So:
4) Texas 12-1, conference champ, beat Alabama 5) Alabama, 12-1, conference champ, beat Georgia 6) Georgia, 12-1, not a conference champ
If Oregon beats Washington, Texas would be in and the other slot would be a close call between Oregon and Alabama.
The SEC needs Georgia to win or either Texas or FSU to lose to guarantee a slot.
It would be wonderful to see the SEC locked out.

Thank God this is the last year of this format
Texas and Alabama shouldn't have to worry about who does what in other conferences. They should have a path to the playoff...win your conference and you are in.

Finebum says he doesn’t want to see any metrics or data, Bama should be in, even if FSU is 13-0.

Finebum says he doesn’t want to see any metrics or data, Bama should be in, even if FSU is 13-0. Well, this is the larger problem with ESPN and their massive conflict of interest with the current playoff They act like the current playoff is fair, while they constantly shill for their lucrative SEC conference. They've been seeding the narrative that Alabama deserves to be in over FSU and Texas the last several weeks. Both arguments are asinine All idiot Finebaum does is bash other conferences non-stop. None of what he says will happen though. FSU will get in if they go undefeated, and Alabama will not jump Texas I really think the 12 team playoff will alleviate a lot of this garbage. Then Finebaum can gripe how Ole Miss and Mizzou should be in over Penn State

I see a lot of "no way you can leave a 12-1 SEC Champ out" Sure you can, that's the whole point of playing these games. Ignoring head2head on the field results undermines the whole premise of the sport But like I said, emphasizing conference champions puts all this garbage to rest. That's how it should of been all along Hen is right: Standings > Rankings.

The problem is, we're trying to blend together SO MANY teams, with SO FEW weeks to play, we usually don't get any H2H data. When we do, it MUST be the #1 deciding factor when records are equal.

I'm still skeptical that a 12-1 SEC champ Saban team could/would be left out of an ESPN post season extravaganza considering who owns the the event.
......and BTW Finbaum is the biggest fraud in sports journalism, imo.

But in the context of the current ranking based playoff, a playoff without an SEC team would produce the least legitimate champion that a ranking based playoff could provide.

UGA and Bama are tied atop the Hen 'Eye Ball' rankings. Now, the 'resume' rankings yield something else. And AUfan, a DPI without an SEC team would be fine and just if another network owned the event but with ESPN it would be treason.

Leaving an SEC team out this year would not be based on merit, but disliking the past dominance. I would be on board if the people thinking the SEC should be left out have their real reasoning, they are sick of the SEC dominance and want a non-SEC team to win.

SEC sure wasn't horrendous in OOC matchups this year. Clearly laid eggs in the 2 most prominent OOC games of the year. LSU gets throttled by FSU BAMA taken down at home by 10 by Texas Florida's offense was a complete no show vs Utah and FSU tAm lost to Miami (this was early on but both teams were ranked) Oh and lets not leave out there other notable loss. Auburn completely thrashed by NM st (a team that had both UGA and BAMA on the ropes.) So what is the SEC hang their hats on UK over Louisville Ole Miss over Arizona
