...instead of having an exhibition post season, these teams would be 'IN" : (speculating the at large entries)
Penn State (at large) Georgia (at large ) Washington (conf champ) Notre Dame (at large) Ohio State (at large) Boise State (conf champ)
Oklahoma (at large) Michigan (conf champ) Alabama (conf champ) Liberty (conf champ) SMU (conf champ) Florida St. (conf champ) Miami, O (conf champ) Troy (conf champ) Oregon (at large) Texas (conf champ)
16 teams, 15 total playoff games ( no byes), 4 weeks and one undisputed, non voted national FBS champion. 12 % of the FBS permitted to compete. The regular season eliminates 88% of all teams. That's meaningful. Nothin' to it.
15 playoff games vs 43 post season exhibition games. One undisputed champion vs a bunch of opinionated / political/ market driven ,mythical mush. Its a no brainer, boys....imo.

Sure, Bevo, even 2 or 4 team invitationals have yielded crappy one sided games - that's proven in these BCS & CFP systems.. There could be blowouts and there could be shockers in an all inclusive championship, but playing is still better than perceiving and guessing. Got to let 'em play. That's sports integrity. Only one division of one sport ( + one bevo) doesn't 'get' this.

The LAST bastion of uniqueness in all the world of football has thrown in the towel. Now, CF will be like EVERY other football league.

Yep, the beginning of the end of big time CF 'mythical' championship history. THANK GOODNESS !!!!!!

Hen is right. The 16 team tournament would be better than anything the FBS has now. Full participation with all the conference champions playing. With early rounds on campus, even up to the semifinals. And yes Bevo, there will be some blow outs, some of the G5 Champs and the P5 at larges. But there will also be upsets and a much better tournament. It works for FCS, Div. II, Div. III, high school, NAIA, and NFL.

I’m sure it will be awesome. Everyone will get so excited to see Liberty in the HUGE upset over Louisville, or some such nonsense.
It’s just a huge change to go for 100+ years of, maybe, one post-season exhibition game to having a quarter of the season be dedicated to a large format playoff.
Top level CF has always been different. Unique. With lots of heartbreak, bickering, bragging and hypotheticals.
Now, it’ll just be trying to remember who won the playoff in 20XX?
Oh well. The sport is already dead. What difference will it make?
I can just hope my Longhorns win the last season

It's actually a pretty straightforward system

It's actually a pretty straightforward system EV... puh-lease. I assure you, I watch more NFL football than anyone on this board. You're comparing apples to softballs. There are only 32 teams in the NFL. They ALL share league revenue more or less equally, including TV contracts. They are professionals who don't even have to pretend to attend college or take Final exams. And, it doesn't have a 120+ year history of regional conferences that have historically called the shots. It's EASY to run a playoff the way the NFL is setup. It's a bit different in a system with 133 teams, in 10 different conferences, of which 5 are considerably above the other 5 in terms of athletic budgets, and 2 are significantly above the rest in terms of talent depth and financial resources. Oh... and a history of post season Bowl games that generate LARGE sums of money for people not even IN the system. Please tell me, you CAN understand the difference?

I'd call it more of a 'mostly' or 'Semi' playoff, Evil, as it still won't be for the entire FBS. I think a full blown , inclusive playoff will eventually come but still a great quantum leap forward.
