Gotta say, it feels weird looking at this headline. Maybe its one of those "mandela effects". It feels abnormal

One of the great forces of the sport but the 'goat' is quite debatable, imo. I disagree. Not really debatable, all things considered. Too many people forget where Alabama was 20+ years ago. Scandals, losing seasons... 297 wins, 7 titles...more 1st round draft picks than losses....a #1 draft pick at every non-specialist position. Conference champsionships, COTY awards. It goes beyond just raw winning percentage. When a team beat Alabama, you rush the field, tear down goal posts, etc. It was that momentous. When Bama bets you, it's just another game for Bama. That's transcendent. Just my 0.02

The 'a' and 't' in goat means "all time", cpa....not just what you might remember or be aware of. All time means the entirety of college football history. If you familiarize yourself with college football history you will find 13 other head coaches (w/at least 10 years of coaching) that were more difficult to beat than coach Saban. For example, Saban lost 20% of all the CF games he's ever coached. A fellow named Knute Rockne ( you may or may not have heard of him because he didn't coach in the last few decades) lost 11.9 % of all the CF games he ever coached. He was just about twice as difficult to beat on a football field as Nick. And , as mentioned, there were others who also lost less frequently than Nick. '

' I understand and most of us on here certainly take a longer perspective and view on CFB than most people, but again, the raw numbers don't tell the whole story. They also played with leather helmets way back when. And didn't have to deal with scholarshhip limits, NIL and portal. I could see a case for Eddie Robinson as well. A dynasty. Had to deal with the integration of the SEC, among other things. Back in the day he said that CFB would change with teams buying athletes and declining athletic standards. He was right. Has anyone done a well-check on Finebaum?

Lanning says he's staying at Oregon.

Good decision for Lanning, imo.
Eddie Robinson had a .700 winning success rate which wouldn't even put him in the top 100 for difficulty to beat. For Saban I would suggest he's a candidate for GOHT (greatest of his time) rather than goat. Rockne, being the single most difficult HC to bet at the major CF level, by a huge margin, would be my GOAT. The single most difficult HC to beat in all of CF, all time, would be Larry Kehres who lost only 8.9 % of the time and won 11 actual national titles (on field - no votes) Finebaum has been saying strange things like "I've Been warming up to Harbaugh"
A few of the other guys that were more difficult to beat than Saban based on % of games lost : Tom Osborne (16.4%), Barry Switzer (16.3%), Fielding Yost ( 16.7%),Frank Leahy (13.6%), Urban Meyer (14.6%), Bob Neyland ( 17.1%). Bob Devaney (19.4%) George Woodruff (15.4%) & Bud Wilkinson (17.4%) Saban, of course, lost 20% of the time.

'16-'20 Dabo was probably a lock...not so sure now. He probably gets a call, though.

Dabo has said no.
Sounds like DeBoer is on the clock, at least according to CBS.
