I would not want to follow in Saban's footsteps - you're destined to be fired. Replacing the guy who replaces Saban is a better move.

Good decision for Lanning, imo. Eddie Robinson had a .700 winning success rate which wouldn't even put him in the top 100 for difficulty to beat. For Saban I would suggest he's a candidate for GOHT (greatest of his time) rather than goat. Rockne, being the single most difficult HC to bet at the major CF level, by a huge margin, would be my GOAT. The single most difficult HC to beat in all of CF, all time, would be Larry Kehres who lost only 8.9 % of the time and won 11 actual national titles (on field - no votes) Finebaum has been saying strange things like "I've Been warming up to Harbaugh" A few of the other guys that were more difficult to beat than Saban based on % of games lost : Tom Osborne (16.4%), Barry Switzer (16.3%), Fielding Yost ( 16.7%),Frank Leahy (13.6%), Urban Meyer (14.6%), Bob Neyland ( 17.1%). Bob Devaney (19.4%) George Woodruff (15.4%) & Bud Wilkinson (17.4%) Saban, of course, lost 20% of the time. In Kerhes case, you could flip it around and say faced the least competition. But it's all relative. Kehres dominated opponents and won more non -mythical national championships than anybody else who ever took the sidelines. He coached DIII players vs DIII players....100% level playing field.....the absolute most difficult head coach to beat in all of CF history, thus the absolute GOAT by coaching greatness standards.

I took a look at Otterbein. They currently have a 14 year losing streak to mount union, with an average losing score of 60-6. Similar stories for other members of the conference. If you are gonna ding saban for rent-wins…

A 'rent-a-win' is an intentionally scheduled automatic non conference win with a lower division opponent which Saban has done regularly. Otterbein is just a weakish team that is scheduled by the conference , not Kehres or Mt Union.....and is NOT from a lower division. Can you see the difference, cpa ?

Do you think Nick would have any interest in the CF broadcast/media world ?

Do you think Nick would have any interest in the CF broadcast/media world ? I think he will. He’s still got plenty enough energy for that. He’s already the GOAT of coaching. Why not go for broadcasting too?

I think he will do some but more of a limited basis. If he wants to be good and applies himself to it, he would be fine. Political correctness is more important than anything else these days(especially on TV)and that is not his strong suit.

Why not go for broadcasting too? He will do well at that, if he so chooses. GOATs can do anything! Although, Hero's point is a good one.
