I saw a video of a violin/fiddle player named Hillary Klug and it got me thinking about the young lady you used to talk about - I believe her name was Kitty, how is she doing? Last I recall she was at App State, perhaps?

Thanks for asking ,doc. Kitty is currently a 19 year old Junior at the New England Conservatory Of Music in Boston and playing with the Boston Symphony . She's majoring in performance in classical and jazz but her fans are still hoping she'll come back to Old Time and Bluegrass fiddling. btw, Kitty was way more advanced and polished than Hillary even back when she was about 10
Here's Kitty playing a classic old time fiddle tune - "Hangman's Reel" at her home, one mile from my home.

Wow - what a talented young lady! I cant believe she was playing that at 8 years old. I don't know much about Hillary - I saw a story about her on Facebook - looks like she fiddles and dances at the same time, which cant be easy. But that's not quite the same as playing with the Boston Symphony at 19 - that's impressive! Prost to her!!

Hillary is doing a lot for our old time fiddle music and playing and dancing together is most difficult. She's promoting herself big time and hats off to her for scratching out a living doing it. I've got fiddlin friends that are better players that just do it for fun . Btw, Kitty wasn't playing that difficult version of 'Hangman's Reel' at age 8. She was playing a much easier version that I taught her.
here's my good friend, April Verch, fiddlin and dancing up a storm :

Wow - I'm just now seeing this, I'm lucky to walk and talk at the same time! On Tuesday we went to a candlelight concert by a string quartet - they played all Queen music and it was mesmerizing, I was a huge fan of Queen all through college and saw them in concert numerous times. The show Tuesday night was very nostalgic for me and I'm so impressed with violin/fiddle players. Actually I'm impressed with anyone who can play an instrument but violin/fiddle looks like it would be one of the more difficult instruments to conquer. I wish I would have tried back in the day but I'm so left handed it would have probably been a disaster.

Hey doc, I know a few left handed fiddlers. A violin can be converted from a right hand player to a left hand player....just a baseboard, sound post and bridge change.Don't know how old you are but scratching around on one is a bunch of fun. If you can't read music you can still fiddle. Are you anywhere near Medway, OH ? I love string quartet music too. It's high level playing.

I’m about an hour from Medway, Ohio. I believe it’s in Clark County and I’m in Warren County.

The reason I asked is there is a good friend of mine there that is a great fiddler. If you ever took the notion to learn some elemental fiddlin I think she might help you get started......maybe even find you a fiddle.
btw, that April Verch (in video) is one darling, beautiful human being and freakishly talented. She has stayed at my house many times and we did a lot of fiddle jamming. If she's ever touring in your area I think you and Mrs doc would enjoy seeing her perform.
