I researched every season and every CAF game that Nick ever coached. Turns out that among his career 292 wins 63 of those wins were vs rent-a-win type scheduled games ( FCS and 'G5'). 21% of Saban's career wins came against non P5 teams....,or more than one in 5....and I didn't count the G5 opponents during his year at Toledo as they were scheduled by the MAC, thus not rent-a-wins.
Against P5 competition Saban lost 23% of the time

Also keep in mind the Championship Gifts awarded by the BCS and committee. 2011 They lose a game and don't make the SEC CCG. Yet they somehow get the nod over 1 loss Conference Champions. Cleary the opposite decision compared to the 2006 season. 2012 They get in because the NCAA slaps a bowl band on the Buckeyes because a couple of players traded some merch for tats. 2017 They get pummeled by a not very good Auburn team and miss the SEC CCG but yet the ESPN SEC committee sees that they were still worthy.

lol. Now you’re willing to admit that the G5 is an inferior league ?
Technically, they are not. P5/G5 are media labels, not NCAA divisions. Wink, wink, nudge nudge

Yea. And then what happened ? How can you argue that the committee was wrong ?

Wink, wink, nudge nudge Ok, I get the 'wink wink' but obviously there is a talent gap between most , so called ,'G5s' and the top powerhouse so called 'P5s". Saban's history of making one out of every 5 of his opponents one of these teams has been to pad Bama'a record and nothing else.

The debate ended a while ago.

He certainly didn't win more games than anybody ( for example he'd have to coach 10-12 more years to catch Paterno) Also, he certainly didn't win a higher percentage of his games than anybody...not even in top ten in success rate, even with all the built in rented wins. Yes, he won more mythical and semi-mythical national titles than the other FBS guys. Remember. Kehres won 11 nattys, without the help of a single vote.

You sound like me, trying to make a case for Peyton over Brady, years ago.

Nick's 64 games vs FCS/G5 teams is the equivalent of a full 5 1/4 seasons vs those teams (based on 12 team seasons). These talking heads who have zero understanding of what 'all time ' means never even think about things like that.

As we noted, Kehres had plenty of those built-in wins as well...like most of the conference - two losses in conference

Tied JoePa won 409 games. The most CF games won by any coach at any NCAA level was 489 by John Gagliardi of St.John's , Minn. My greatest live CF memory was a DIII national title game played at Salem, Va (Stagg Bowl) between the all time wins leader in CF and the all time win % leader in CF, which, of course was Gagliardi vs Kehres. Gagliardi won.
