I have said before and I will say now, neither Sanders nor Trump will be allowed to get the nominations of their party.
Caucuses are BS...you might as well put up a free beer sign and count each cup as a vote.

It looks like Trump may have avoided 3rd place by a whisker. He was 12 to 18 points ahead of Rubio in the final highly respected Des Moines Register and Quinnipiac polls, but now leads Rubio 24% to 23% with 99% of the precincts reporting.

With all due respect, I differ slightly Hero. I agree that the Democrats will never allow Sanders to be their candidate, but I believe that Trump will be allowed an opportunity to win the Republican nomination.

I think I have some understanding of machine politics. I hope I don't because I don't have a positive view. I watch the crowds for Hillary and Bernie and then see these results. I'm not impressed with the results in that I don't think they are in any way representitive. I hope the Republicans are better, yet I am not holding my breath on that hope.

WOW! At 11:42pm Clinton and Sanders are tied at 50%, with 94% of the precincts reporting. O'Malley has 1%. That totals 101% -- Democrats must have raised a few dead.

Caucuses are BS...you might as well put up a free beer sign and count each cup as a vote. I wouldn't say they are total BS, I would say the polls on Foxnews, and CNN are total BS though....I think the Caucuses you at least get a little idea of how the people are feeling, and get a little bit of an idea about whom in each general party is electable......as for your premise...I think the Conservatives would absolutely let Trump get the nod, however Trump's biggest enemy has been himself. I cannot tell you how many times in the past week people have told me they are getting tired of his insulting and bullying his way, through these debates and they want him to describe in detail his plans for America....Trump's popularity may have lasted longer than many thought......but at the end of the day I think the Political Pundits were right. The politicians in this country are held with such contempt, that you'll become popular insulting and bullying them, but that's not enough to win a general election.......the American people still need to see you have a solid plan for fixing this country, and I think Trumps campaign has to shift more towards shedding light on his vision for America....if he seriously wants to win. Iowa will raise real doubts about whether or not the guy can win a general election........if he loses New Hampshire as well......he's done.

Other winners tonight are Fox News, in general, and Megyn Kelly, in particular. Donald Trump paid the price for skipping the debate. His childish tantrum came back to bite him.
If the FBI makes a criminal referral to the Justice Department, then Hillary might not be able to survive the primaries. If she is indicted, she is toast.
If Hillary isn't forced out, she will win the nomination. However, if she is compelled to drop out, then Joe Biden will probably enter the race. If not Biden, then perhaps retreads like Al Gore or John Kerry. If not Biden or retreads, then Elizabeth Warren.
Whichever, Sanders doesn't have a snowflake's chance in hell.

To me the surprise was that Cruz, Rubio, Trump, and Carson combined for 95% of the vote.
Nobody else mattered.
Trump and Cruz need to hit Rubio hard on amnesty.

I don't see how you can make that leap. Trump was in second place to Cruz in Iowa when he decided to skip the debate... he ended up in second place. Seems like a push to me.
Trump had enough votes to win ANY OTHER caucus in Iowa history.... Cruz just turned out more.
Cruz is ruthlessly using "metadata" on voters that has been available for awhile now, but... many candidates have thought it "unsavory" to use. Obama used it in 2004 and 2008. In 2008, I heard Glenn Beck go on a two hour rant that he would NEVER support a candidate that used this kind of data... since it was such an invasion of privacy. Now, he's all-in for Cruz, the chief abuser of it. Go figure.
Rubio was the big winner last night IMO. He greatly exceeded expectations. He is the guy, apparently, that drew supporters from "all the others". They think he can win. I think, they're right.
Trump will win NH.
Then they go to Nevada and South Carolina. Both will be very interesting.
Now, the fun really starts.

The Democrat caucus is MORE BS. AT least, the Republicans cast a secret ballot.... ONCE... and then, count and live with the results. The Dems must vote publicly. And then, they argue with each other trying to change them... and, keep voting until they get the answer the group wants.
Democrats have also STACKED the entire nomination process with these "Super Delegates".... they aren't elected by anyone. They're appointed by the DNC. Guess who they're ALL supporting?
Hint: It ain't Bernie.

Bevo: "I don't see how you can make that leap. Trump was in second place to Cruz in Iowa when he decided to skip the debate... he ended up in second place. Seems like a push to me."
Trump had an 11-point lead over Cruz in the polls prior to the debate.
I am beginning to wonder if the guy has a screw loose. All Megyn Kelly did was to challenge Trump on some disparaging remarks he had made about women. She has similarly challenged other candidates on past remarks and positions.
Trump allowed his annoyance at being challenged to fester for months. He blew it up into a big Fox News conspiracy against him when, in fact, Fox generously gave him an over abundance of free air time.
