I know where Texas wants to be as a program...they want to be numero uno (it would actually be a great 30 for 30...."From James Brown to Giant")
They want to be a premier program in the nation. Charlie Strong is probably on notice already....anything less than 9 wins, and I bet he's gone before the season is up...

Patterson made a LOT of enemies....in a hurry.
Pissing off Red McCombs is not a smart way to start a career at Texas.
Charlie will get fair treatment. My guess is, he gets one more year. But, no more than that unless there's real improvement.

On the other hand Strong is likely a disaster so Patterson has no support from anyone!

Yea... Lot's of noise again about Louisville's Tom Jurich. For now, it's former UT Linebacker, Mike Perrin. He's been given a one year contract, and the UT President has announce that there will be NO SEARCH initiated for at least the next six months.
The logic being, no currently employed AD would be likely to leave his position in the middle of the football season.
I just got back from Vegas last night, so... wasn't really on this story. But, I've posted on here several times previously that Patterson was "not liked" by many. He pissed off practically all of the big money donors (not just McCombs) when he fired Mack Brown and hired Charlie Strong without really looking at ANYBODY else. The process more or less repeated itself with the firing of Rick Barnes and hiring of Shaka. Patterson pissed off the ENTIRE fan base with a 22% increase in ticket prices this summer.... But, likely his biggest downfall was, what I mentioned a few months ago: He NEVER called or reached out to anyone to thank them for their support or make them feel like a "part of" the Longhorn family. DeLoss Dodds was a MASTER at this for decades. Cutting it off, cold turkey, was just too much for people to accept. The new AD, whoever he is, had better be good at schmoozing.
Given the 1 year contract for Perrin, I think the chances for Mack Brown go wayyyy down. They could hire Mack now if they wanted to. Apparently, they don't.
Keep in mind also, UT has a brand new President. He's the one making this change.... really.
I do think, this does not bode well for Charlie Strong. There's little chance that the team is going to be worth a crap this year. If there's a new AD next year, it would be the perfect excuse to bring in a new coach. Charlie has the same problem as Steve: He's pissed off just about every High School football coach in the State... by, firing one of their friends.

LOL I read today that TOP UT money donor, Joe Jamail, had refused to re-order his personal suite and had severely cut back on donations... as had many other top donors. The reason? Patterson was an ass hat.
Even the COACHES weren't allowed to communicate with Patterson directly. They all had to go through the assistant AD.
There's going to be a LOT of dirt coming out now. This guy was intensely dis-liked.
