Wow. Stuart really gets OUT THERE!
I think he's right about a lot.... Contraction is more likely than expansion. But, I don't think we'll be falling back to only 24 teams. The most interesting thing he said was this:
I agree with that.... And it will be a HUGE driver for change. Not sure how far it goes?

Good reads, GG....thanks. For Mandel's eventual Super Duper 24 team playoff conference he didn't mention the 'rest of the story'...which is :
* 125 total scholarships allowed per team per year and each scholarship is renewed Bi-monthly depending on how players ascend the depth charts. ( 6 years eligibility allowed ) * Eligibility to play is based on age only ( 18-25 ) and will have absolutely nothing to do with academic achievement or meeting any standards. HS dropouts are eligible for these football scholarships based on their 40 yd dash times and bench press. Any classroom attendance is strictly optional and only if it can be worked out around football activity schedules.....determined by the head coach. Every player's major will be listed as 'Football' * Each team will be allowed to have 45 full time coaches/recruiters on staff. * Minimum head coach salary will be 15 million per and minimum assistant coaching salaries will be 4 million per. * Salaries for players will be : $15,000 for 1st season players, $25,000 for 2nd year players, $35,000 for 3rd year players, $45,000 for 4th year players, $60,000 for 5th year players and $75,000 for 6th year players. In addition there will be $500,000 per game , per team allotted for outstanding performance bonuses.
Cant wait !!!!

meh....I don't know, I don't think it will be all that radical...
The ACC is supposedly getting a network soon, and they may eventually be able to rope Notre Dame into the conference for all sports. If they do that, look for them to try to get Texas next...
I think Oklahoma is eventually SEC-bound...Kansas may go with them
I'm not quite sure what the B1G will do, but I think they try and grab 2 more teams for a solid 16 team conference
IDK what the PAC 12 will do either, but they are in trouble...they need to grab some Texas teams.
I do agree with Stuart Mandel that the next step will be content, but you still have politics to deal with...in his example, he left out Cal. Would that really happen? not a chance
IF we expand the playoff, then I think a weakened Big XII will be able to keep their seats at the table....
things might not change as much as people think they will

Texas will NEVER...EVER be part of the Big 10. Not even, in a 'Western' Division. It's just not heppening.
