So, why were the crowds for Trump's inauguration and the parade so tiny in comparison to the crowds for Obama's inaugurations? Meh, who cares?
Today was cold and rainy here.
Quite a difference in the situations.

I can't accept your excuses. The pictures don't lie. The crowd was very small compared to Obama's first inauguration. But, it was sufficient. www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/photos-president-trumps-inauguration-crowd-vs-president-obamas/His inaugural address was dark and gloomy. Disappointing.

Not excuses, just stating facts. The crowd was definitely smaller, for legitimate reasons.
I thought Trump's address was heavier than most, but I believe we need someone who will tell us the truth rather than blow sunshine up our collective skirts.
Plus, the CNN picture that's making the rounds was taken well before the inauguration started, so of course, there are fewer people there. Slimy snakes.

But, an inaugural address also presents an opportunity to inspire with optimism. Something like, "We are going to get the federal government off of your backs and out of your way. Success will no longer be punished. We are going to make America great again by unleashing the entrepreneurial spirit of the American people. We are going to restore opportunities for ordinary people to do extraordinary things, to innovate, to create jobs."

So, why were the crowds for Trump's inauguration and the parade so tiny in comparison to the crowds for Obama's inaugurations? Most Trump voters have jobs, in spite of all OBama's effort. Too easy

There is a missing picture. Still I am back to the same answer. Working people elected Trump.

Why was the TV audience for Trump's inauguration so historically low?

Trump commits to full major investigation of 3-5 million illegal aliens voting (in two states). This should be great theater. My prediction: The "full investigation" will uncover a very small number of votes by illegal aliens and by dead people. Something will be proposed to curb the illegal voting, and Trump will claim that he has been vindicated. The investigation will be closed after a few million dollars will have been wasted. www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/01/25/trump-promises-major-investigation-into-alleged-voter-fraud.html

And now Trump proposes a 20% tax on imports from Mexico to pay for the wall. Mexico will simply reciprocate with an offsetting tax on American exports to Mexico. Ordinary Americans will wind up paying for the wall by paying 20% more for goods produced in Mexico. Imports from Mexico to the U.S. will drop, as will exports from America to Mexico. America will be creating an adversary, perhaps an enemy, out of a friend and competitor. It will be a lose-lose deal for everyone, and Trump will proclaim victory. It is much too easy to see how this screwball scheme will play out: www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38764079
