Here is a quick look at the end of the first month. 44 teams still have some hope. At this point Oklahoma, ND, Ole Miss, USC, UCLA, Oregon have already left the party.
At this point 17 team pretty much control their destiny. This includes any undefeated P5 Team outside of the Big 12
Undefeated B12 or Houston are a virtual lock as long as there are not 4 other undefeated P5 teams standing in the end
There are 17 1 loss P5 teams that still have a legitimate shot are next in line
That leaves 7 (minus Houston) undefeated G5 teams still with a glimmer of hope and would need a boat load of help.
P5 Teams with no losses ACC 4 Louisville Clemson WF Miami B1G 6 Ohio St Michigan Maryland Wisconsin Minnesota Nebraska SEC 3 Alabama TAM Tennessee P12 Utah Arizona St Stanford Washington B12 WVU Baylor
G5 Teams with no losses American Houston Navy Memphis MAC WMU Toledo MWC Air Force Boise St San Diego St
P5 Teams with 1 loss ACC Florida St NC St UNC VT GT B1G Mich St Indiana Iowa Purdue P12 Colorado B12 Kansas St Texas Texas Tech TCU SEC Florida Georgia Arkansas

I expect the Big XII and PAC 12 to be eliminated pretty fast....
Houston has an ace in the hole with the Louisville game should the Cardinals beat Clemson this weekend, but honestly I don't think Houston could beat Louisville, but who knows
I think the ACC and B1G have good shots at getting a second team in the playoff.
The FSU/Clemson winner has a great shot at being #4, but only if Louisville beats Houston....
still too much football left

I think the Louisville vs Clemson game is an elimination game. They're both in the same Division. The winner could lose another game, and still make it with a win in the CCG. But, the loser won't have a shot at redemption.
As I predicted, Louisville is now FAVORED in this game... by 2.
I'm not going to bet a lot on this game...but, I think I will put a little on Clemson as a home underdog.

Stanford and Washington appear to be the the best the P12 has to offer, neither team has shown any sort of dominance to make you think they can get through the season without a blemish. ACC is going to be very interesting especially if we end up with a 3 way tie for Atlantic. At this point, I don't see anyone beating FSU, Clemson, or Lousiville other than head to head matchups. Big 10 is going to be a bit harder for the 2 team scenario as the 2 with the best shot play the last game of the season which may be hard to rebound from. Wisconsin is another potential team but has a crossover schedule vs MSU, UM, and tOSU Current top 4 projection Alabama Ohio State Louisville (Swap in Clemson if they lose) Stanford (Swap in Washington if they lose)

44 In the mythical system we're realistically down to a dozen or so.
