Mrs. Tiger and I had a date - lunch at CAVA and a movie.
Brian Cox, as Churchill, gave a strong performance. As did Miranda Richardson, who plays his wife.
The story illuminated the significant tension between Churchill and the allied commanders. Churchill wanted to control every aspect of planning, and was against the allies D-Day plan to have a singular, narrow attack on France - he preferred a 2-pronged attack across a wider path.
Also, the tension inside Churchill himself - having to move on from the role of military hero to supportive politician...
I also enjoyed Cox in the HBO series Deadwood. He's been in a couple of the Bourne movies as well.

I would love to see that movie. I'll check it out to see if it is available on DVD or download. A great movie is coming up at 12:00 noon today on TCM, "Stormy Weather", a 1943 black film starring Lena Horne, Bill Robinson, Cab Calloway and featuring the Nicholas Brothers in the greatest dance number ever: youtu.be/zBb9hTyLjfM

This past election sure verified Churchill's famous comment :
"The best argument against a democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter"...or something like that

Bingo. I wonder how many realize it when they recite the Pledge of Allegiance: "...and to the ________________ for which it stands..."?

I caught a couple of movies on the plane ride home from Munich...
The Founder: Biopic of Ray Kroc, the genius behind MacDonald's. REALLY good movie. It's a fascinating story, if you have any interest in business at all. Not sure why this movie got so little critical acclaim. It was a HELLUVA lot better than "Birdman".
A Dog's Purpose: Sappy... but entertaining. Tear-jerker a few times: Spoiler Alert... the dog dies!... a lot! Decent movie though.
Beauty & the Beast: Ugh... Glad I didn't waste money on it at the theater. My wife loved it, so... I tried. Emma Watson was NOT convincing as Belle. Nor all that pretty. Hard to have a good movie when you're missing the "Beauty". Technology was pretty amazing. Funny... they didn't show any "gay kiss" in the airplane version of the movie.

FHF: I am still traumatized by Old Yeller. I seriously won't watch it on the rare occasions when it is replayed on TV. Lol

I didn't see the first 2 but I actually enjoyed Beauty and the Beast - we took the whole family and had a great time. The animated version is my favorite Disney movie of all time so I was interested to see what they'd do with it. The animated version is better but I enjoyed the enchanted castle and I actually think Emma Watson is cute as a button - I will say she's not a singer!
