Take each game and apply a confidence of win factor:
.95 Kent State .65 Auburn .55 @ul .85 BC .65 @ VT .90 Wake .85 @syr .80 GT .80 @ncst .50 FSU .95 Citadel .85 @ SC
9.3 wins based on confidence weight as of now for the Tigers.
A lot rides on Aub-Louisville early on, especially Louisville - confidence means everything in college football. If we get a qb and a team playing with confidence, then many things are possible.
FSU 50/50 right now, based on home field. If we get QB play above what we’re expecting, I like us. If FSU’s OL stops playing patty cake and protects DF, I don’t like our chances as much.

9/2/2017 MARYLAND 0.65 BONUS points for being home, and Herman's first game. 9/9/2017 SAN JOSE STATE 0.8 Hoping there won't be a let down after the home opener win 9/16/2017 at Southern California 0.3 If we win this game? Longhorn fans will go NUTS!! 9/28/2017 at Iowa State (Thur.) 0.8 Herman will be focused on this team... they got him his job. 10/7/2017 KANSAS STATE 0.9 Another Home game advantage Could be tough though, 10/14/2017 Oklahoma @dallas, TX 0.5 Who knows, now that Stoops is gone. But, I like our chances against OU. 10/21/2017 OKLAHOMA STATE 0.45 Another big chance for an emotional let down. TRAP game, against a very good team. 10/28/2017 at Baylor 0.6 I think the Bears will be down this year... and, maybe for a while. 11/4/2017 at TCU 0.4 Not expecting to win this one. 40% is probably too high. 11/11/2017 KANSAS 0.99 Iron-clad GUARANTEE. THIS ONE, we will win. 11/18/2017 at West Virginia 0.4 On the road, against maybe the best team in the conference. I HOPE it's a big game for us. 11/25/2017 TEXAS TECH 0.9 We always beat tech in Austin.
7.69
So... 8 wins is a success??? Sigh...

Does anyone else expect WVU to be the best team in the Big 12? Phil Steele predicts the Mountaineers to come in 7th in the Big 12. WVU isn't listed in Steele's top-40, which actually lists his top-56 teams. He has WVU behind Appalachian State, WKU, Ohio, Toledo, Miami (OH), Troy, Louisiana Tech, UTSA, Army and Navy, and even Marshall.
I went through this exercise last year and predicted 9 wins for Marshall. The Herd actually won 3. Steele projects Marshall as #2 in C-USA, and #54 overall. I can't be that confident.
I predict 6 wins.

I am very confidant in my Mountaineers (the App St. ones). I will be bold and project 11 wins in the regular season. And if (or better when) we do, the Apps will be in the running for the G5 New Year's Day spot.

No more than one loss in the regular season.

And if (or better when) we do, the Apps will be in the running for the G5 New Year's Day spot. Your prediction might not be that bold. Phil Steele ranks Appy at #33, second only to #25 BYU among G5 teams. Steele says that if Appy can upset Georgia, it will be favored in all of its remaining 11 games, and would be a top contender for a NYD game. Steele ranks Georgia at #24, so it wouldn't be a major upset. I just watched a replay of 2016 Nicholls State @ #9-ranked Georgia. Nicholls was regarded as one of the worst FCS teams. Georgia escaped with a 26-24 win. If Georgia plays anything like that v. Appy...

Beating UGA would be sweet, but I ain't betting on it. But if App does, we have a good shot a going undefeated, as long as we stay focused. It seems like App always falters in at least one game during the year.

Don't much follow the small time PSEGs they are relegated to now, but I guess FB revenue has increased ??

I hope so. But I really don't know. The Camalia bowl does not have a big pay day.
