Earlier this season the Reds celebrated the career of Pete Rose and unveiled a statue outside Great American Ball Park - now the news surfaces that in the '70's he was banging under-aged girls. He had to know of these allegations when the Reds decided to honor him and put up the statue, you'd think they'd be tired of him embarrassing the team and our city. And yet, everyone here loves him - he's a favorite son. Good for the Phillies saying no, we're not putting you on our wall of fame.

One of the greats and could never abandon being a stupid punk. From the neck down a hall of famer. From the neck up, just a punk.

Pete Rose, the baseball player, is a Hall of Famer - one of the all time greats. Pete Rose, the human being, is a complete and total failure - a sleazeball of epic proportions.

One of the greats and could never abandon being a stupid punk. From the neck down a hall of famer. From the neck up, just a punk. There were stories floating around way back when about when Pete was on the road. I remember one time his wife was calling and his roomate picked it up and wanted to talk to Pete. Pete told her that he was busy with some women and could not talk to her. He was just an all around bad person. The big Red Machine had the GLOAT (Greatest Linup Of All Time) at least in my mind. Rose, Morgan, Concepcion, Perez, Bench, Griffey, Foster, and Geronimo. All great guys if you can exclude the one Black Eye in terms or character.

It was so great to grow up as a fan of the Reds - they were just a dominating team from top to bottom. And many people say they didn't have a great pitching staff but look at the stats Gullett, Nolan, Billingham, Norman and others compiled back in the 70's. Sure, the Reds scored a lot of runs but the pitchers all had ERA's of 3.5 or lower. What they're tossing out there every night this season makes me sick.

And they also had a Bullpen to go along with it with Eastwick, McInany, and Bourbon. The Nasty's before the Nasty's. Hey Doc, do you remember the curse that Pedro Bourbon put on the Reds when he was traded. His curse was that the Reds would never win another world series. He eventually lifted the curse prior to 1990 when the Reds swept the A's and now hold the longest current win streak at 9 games. Unfortunately it looks like that streak will be in tact for a long long time as the only thing the Reds are discussing this time of year is which stars are going to be dealt before the deadline.

Even as an Astros fan, I enjoyed watch the Big Red Machine. I especially liked Bench (I played catcher) and Concepcion.

Concepcion was an under appreciated player who should be in the HOF. He defined the way shortstop was played on AstroTurf. He was definitely overshadowed by his more famous team mates but every bit as important.

Yes but he also stole some sports trading cards which WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
