Gee... thanks Marshawn. It must have killed you to be out of the limelight last year.
IMO, the NFL needs to put a STOP to this political protesting at football games. This is a league that fines players for writing "MOM" on their headbands. If they allow the NFL to become a platform for racial protests? They will see an even larger decline in ratings than they did last year.
Ideally, they need the player's union to step up and stop this. But, that's not likely to happen.

If I was the head coach, any player who didn't respect the national anthem wouldn't play.

Yea... that would work. Until your house got surrounded and pounded by BLM and ANTIFA. That would fit the new definition of domestic terrorism...

I think the solution is fairly simple. I don't believe the players are on the field at Ohio Stadium when they play the national anthem. The band comes out and does their pre-game and finishes with the anthem - there's no room on the field for the teams. I just wouldn't have the teams come out on the field until the anthem has been played, it's that simple. Once the anthem is over - have the teams run out. It's become a sideshow. The players will probably bitch about it but as is the case with everything, there's always a handful of doofus's who have to ruin things for everyone else.

Hard to tell how much of this stuff is sincere convictions, how much is just attention seeking and how much is just plain 'dumbth' factor.

I'm with you, Hen - these guys are playing follow the leader and just looking for some attention of their own. Again, I say play the anthem while the teams are in the locker rooms and watch how they complain that they're not on the field to 'pay their respects' to the flag. Its a joke.

I know it's tradition but I don't think it's even necessary to play the national anthem before games and definitely isn't necessary for the players to be out there yet.

Those are "common sense " solutions, but it's really too late for that now. This is a marketing disaster for the NFL. Whatever they do will be seen as wrong.

Might as well sign Goodell up for a 5 year extension. And BTW, the players union is already saying a work stoppage is all but certain when the CBA expires in 2021...nothing like planning ahead!
