Herman gets the hype. Durkin can coach...without hype.

I saw Maryland play a few games last year.... I knew they would play hard.
It it was a tough game to watch.

FYI laet opening home loss in Austin was 1999. 51 was the most we've ever given up in an opening game. Still setting records....

Texas is 28 1/2 over San Jose St. can I bet a C'note abd be safe ?? I wouldn't bet a nickel on Texas until they show some signs of defense. In general, I liked the aggressive way Hermann called our game.. but, I thought he took it too far in the 4th quarter. We were only down 3, with 6 minutes left... they are playing a backup QB. Our offense had a 4th and 2 at the Maryland 45. (We'd just failed on 3rd and 2) Hermann went for it, and missed. That took ALL the air out of the crowd. Maryland scored a TD in a few plays, and the game was OVER. I would have punted, tried to pin them deep.. and let the huge crowd and our defense go to work on the backup QB. I thought so at the time.. BEFORE we gave up the TD. Going for it (and missing) to start the third quarter was OK...I thought. At that time, we had the ball at their 3. Kicking a FG would have felt like a loss. It turned out well. Our defense held, we got a short field, and scored a TD. In that case, it was a good call. With 6 minutes left in the game, at midfield, with their backup QB in the game??? I didn't like it at all. To make things worse, we looked very unorganized on the 4th down play. We're just not together enough yet to be trying that. I think, that decision cost Texas a HUGE win. If we had come back from all that SHIT in the first half, and won that game? The state would be over-the-moon. Now? People are depressed.. already. It's like, have a levee break... AFTER the rain is over.
