of our annual Christmas Party at work. It probably comes as no surprise that I do a trivia contest with the winning team earning fabulous prizes selected specifically for them. One of the categories I came up with for this year is called 'Heard it in a love song'. I'm going to give them 10 lines from love songs that were selected among the top 100 of all time and they need to identify the song and artist. they'll get 1 point for each the identify so every song is worth 2 points. I thought I'd test the songs out on the board. Here are the lines, lets see how many you can identify....
1. I don’t want to lose her now. You know I believe and how.
2. And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave to the dark and the endless skies.
3. Maybe I’m a lonely man who’s in the middle of something that he doesn’t really understand.
4. I said I love you, that’s forever and this I promise from the heart.
5. We go to a party and everyone turns to see this beautiful lady that's walking around with me. 6. If I was a sculptor, but then again no. Or a man who makes potions in a traveling show.
7. Lonely rivers sigh, wait for me, wait for me. I'll be coming home, wait for me.
8. Without a noise, without my pride, I reach out from the inside.
9. I give her all my love, that’s all I do.
10. They say we’re young and we don’t know, we won’t find out until we grow.
Good luck. I think most are easy but there are a couple of tough ones. What the hell - if it keeps us from going to a 6th page on the changed playoff thread it's worth it!

7. Unchained Melody. Recorded by more artist than just about any song, originally.. The Righteous Brothers
8. In Your Eyes... Sting?

Combined, you've identified 9 of the 10. #2 is still in question and I felt it, along with #8, were the two hardest. In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel, you may recall, was part of the iconic scene from Say Anything where a very young John Cusack played that song outside the bedroom window Ione Skye in attempt to gain her affection. As I recall, it eventually paid off. See the link... www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5Y8tFQ01OY#2 was from the 70's and the singer had a couple huge hits which, I think, both won Grammy Awards.

Finally, it came.... Thanks Doc, for an interesting break from the ugly.

For the record, I think CPA is right. #8 was Peter Gabriel. I just couldn't think of who, and the voice in my head sounded like Sting.
