The FBS playoff. We're headed to the "sweet 16" right now. Clemson, Miami, UGA, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Oklahoma have already played their way in to the quarter finals. Just waiting on a few more games to settle...

If current highest placed teams win out, my point system would advance Alabama, Wisconsin, Miami, and UCF. Other teams that have a mathematical shot include Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Georgia, USC, Clemson, Ohio State, Auburn, and Boise State. That looks like more than 5 meaningful games to be played.

Remember, that was a CBS writer who came up with the 5 games. He assumed all the DPI contenders would win all their games that they were favored in.

Should teams that schedule FCS opponents be penalized by the CFP committee? It is, in theory, an automatic win, and definitely helps the record.
Clemson, Miami, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia all have FCS foes on this year's sked, Big 12 and B1G don't.
Should it matter?

Just waiting on a few more games to settle... You have an astonishingly short memory. Only a few days ago you provided the conclusive and indisputable evidence that the winner of the CFP is the CFP National Champion, and not the FBS National Champion. BTW - UCF would be in the playoff if we were actually headed to the “sweet 16”.

Keep all the money in P5 and make all the whiners happy.

A blowout win over James Madison should be penalized while a narrow win over Kansas should be valued? Automatic wins? What is NDSU’s record v. P5 opponents in the past few years? Appalachian State defeated a top-10 Michigan team. JMU defeated a ranked VaTech team.

FBS teams win roughly 85% of games against FCS. 4 times an FCS school has beaten at T25 FBS school. Most of the losses have accrued to teams like directional Michigans, UNLV, NMST, Temple, Cal State F, Cal State LB, Akron, etc. 2008 season was the highest win percentage, at .977 (85-2).

And, that's why I put "sweet 16" in quotes. UCF is included...it remains to be seen; however, if they will make the final tournament seeding.

Is there anyone else in America, besides you, who believes (or contends) that UCF is in the CFP mix?

tigercpa: “In theory yes. FBS teams win roughly 85% of games against FCS.”
FHF: That is hardly automatic! There have been (at least) 2 FCS/D-IAA teams that have been in Sagarin’s final top-25: Marshall and NDSU. What is wrong with simply evaluating teams on the basis of how they play vs. who they play, regardless of level?

Is there anyone else in America, besides you, who believes (or contends) that UCF is in the CFP mix? I don't think UCF is, this year... But, I think they WOULD BE, if they'd played their scheduled game against GaTech, and beaten them decisively (as I suspect they would have). Look at all the grief Baylor and TCU received for not having a CCG. Having played one less game was viewed as a huge negative... and, that was for a P5 Conference Champ. It's a shame. I'm impressed with UCF. I WISH there was a way Frost would stay. I think they're on the cusp of being invited to a P5 conference. Frankly, I don't think their schedule is all THAT weak. Well, I guess.. the AAC east part is. But, their wins over Navy and @ Maryland convinced me. They're pretty darn good.
