Alabama lost A LOT of defensive studs to the draft...the defense this year was really good, but just didn't have the experience of the previous year. Add numerous injuries and the D was slightly down from previous years.
I saw two things that surprised me with Alabama this year. When they played FSU, the Noles D was able to get the jump on Alabama and sort of push them around a bit. I'd never seen that before with these Alabama super teams since 2009
The other thing I saw was against Miss St. I saw Miss St RBs getting to the second level, past the Alabama D Line. The Crimson Tide front seven usually dominates up front.
I think this is the most human-looking Alabama has looked since maybe 2010
Hurts is a great player, but the offense seems off as well...gone is the punishing 1-2 punch of stud RBs of Eddie Lacy and Richardson
They are still alive to make the playoffs...all it would really take is a Buckeye win next week.
But I just don't think they are the Dominating Alabama team we have seen for a long stretch now. Funny how one loss can mean a world of difference for Alabama
