A career criminal illegal alien with five deportations and seven felony convictions killed a woman with a gun. Another slap on the wrist(3 years MAX) hardly seems like justice to me.

Is your concern with the verdict, the sentencing or both?

A career criminal illegal alien with five deportations and seven felony convictions killed a woman with a gun. Another slap on the wrist(3 years MAX) hardly seems like justice to me. The prosecutors simply screwed up this case. They NEVER had any reasonable grounds for murder, either first or second degree. And yet, that's what they pressed for. They should have been able to get Involuntary Manslaughter, but... they practically ignored that option. I guess, they got what they wanted.

Is your concern with the verdict, the sentencing or both? My interest is justice. Was justice served? From the dog's eye view I just can't see it.

It makes me sad. I think there should be a way to deal with career criminals. Another slap on the wrist is just a slap in the face of some father I will never know. SMH WWCBD What would Charles Bronson do?

It wasn't a difficult question. It wasn't a gotcha question - no hidden agenda. My interest is justice. This is neither a trick answer nor do I have a hidden agenda. I don't know of any among us who isn't interested in justice. If justice wasn't served, it seems that it had to be because the jury reached the wrong verdict or because the sentence didn't conform with the verdict, or both. That shouldn't be too difficult for you to answer. I agree with the verdict. I haven't reviewed the sentencing guidelines, so I don't have an opinion as to whether justice has been served with the sentence. My opinion is that it should have been at or near the maximum of the sentencing guidelines. Sentencing guidelines are always subject to periodic legislative review.

Are you up to speed? Have you reviewed California’s sentencing guidelines? If so, why couldn’t you simply say so? You make it seem like you are clueless. Or, perhaps fearful that I will humiliate you for your reasoning. I told you that I didn’t have an agenda. It wasn’t a trap. I was simply interested in your rationale.

I think Hero has the same problem I have (but he can speak for himself) - I understand the verdict, but am not happy with it...it rings hollow, but those are the breaks and the have a respectable jury process. We don't always get respectable jurors.
Regardless of the rendered verdict, we have a 5-time deported illegal who, if we believe the narrative, "found a gun" that "accidentally discharged" killing an innocent bystander and then threw the gun in the water and fled the scene.
A Sig Sauer P239 in .40 caiber requires a 10 pound trigger pull to fire, there are four separate safety implements, and has the firearm no history of accidental discharge and has never been subject to a recall for such defects.
OTOH, he's facing up to 35 years from his subsequent DOJ arrest and potential prosecution.

Another slap on the wrist is an exercise in futility. I have a Sig and it has never discharged accidentally. Here is hoping The DOJ finds justice which is all I desire.

I promise not to ask if you watch CNN for the rest of the day if you will simply explain why you feel that justice has not been served.
