Georgia linebacker Natrez Patrick was arrested late Saturday evening following the Bulldogs’ 28-7 SEC title game victory over Auburn and charged with a misdemeanor, according to Anthony Dasher UGASports.com.
Alec McQuade of 11Alive.com reported that Patrick was charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce and was released after paying a small fine.
Per that report, "Patrick was a passenger during a traffic stop, according to Barrow County Sheriff’s spokesperson Ryan Sears. He was in a vehicle with fellow teammate and receiver Jayson Stanley. Stanley was arrested and charged for DUI, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and speeding, going 87 mph in a 65 mph zone."
It’s Patrick’s third drug arrest in the past two years. He was arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges two years ago, suspended for a game and was also charged with "possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and parking in a prohibited area" in October 2016, per Dasher.
Georgia suspended him a total of four games for his second infraction. Dasher added that a third drug-related offense would result in Patrick being kicked off the team, according to the school’s student athlete handbook.
Patrick, a junior, is third on the Bulldogs with 35 tackles this season. He also notched three tackles in Saturday’s victory.
