no, I was referring to the number of conference members -14, not games. An SEC team ( or ACC team) plays only 8 times vs the other remaining 13 members of the conference ......8/13 so only 61.5 % The B10 plays 69% of its league The P12 plays 82% of its league The B12 plays 100% of its league. the SEC plays 61.5% of its league - no good. cowardly, smart. Gotcha.
Again, I'd rather see Clemson play Auburn/Bama/TX/USC than add Duke as a "conference" game.
Me too, but you can have both...9 (or even 10) conf games and quality OOC opponents. Just drop the I-AA baloney games.

Their take of the gate receipts from a Clemson or SCAR home game represents a huge chunk of athletic funding for these smaller schools.

Clemson and USC play those ridiculous games for bowl eligibility...totally self serving. Sure they are great revenue opportunities for the little guys but why can't big state U just make a donation to those programs and reschedule with competitive integrity ?

Only 2 times in the last 40 years have any of those schools allowed the Tigers to become bowl eligible.

It depends who else the potential teams played OOC. The CFP considers all 12-13 games of the entire schedule, not just the 8-9 conference games. Considering 100% of their games / schedule strength is better. A team playing 9 conference games + 3 OOC cupcakes can certainly have an easier schedule than a team playing 8 conference games + stronger OOC schedule. Not to mention the strength of their actual conference games can vary.
