It wasn't a bad call though. According to the rule the refs made the right call, the rule states that the ground cannot help you make the catch IN ANY WAY. The Ball can touch they ground, but it cannot move at all, you have to have complete control of the ball when you hit the ground. The Refs interpreted the rule correctly , it's just a stupid rule. Look at that replay again the ball is moving when he hits the ground, and he's it's definitely on the ground. According to the rule that's not surviving the ground because A) It's definitely moving and B) He uses the ground to help control it

www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TZwl1RpBJo Romo went on to say that he didn't think it was a catch after the refs made the call, whoever edited the video made it seem like both announcers thought it was a no brainer Touchdowon call

The plane of the goal was pierced while in complete control. The ball moved AFTER THE TD WAS SCORED. I agree the rule is stupid. I have grown tired of watching the referee show. Football in the NFL does not match my memory.

I've said it before and I'll say it till i'm blue in the face - the worst thing sports ever did was incorporate instant replay into officiating. It has ruined the games. The refs use it as a crutch, officiating has deteriorated as a result. Calls are missed but when you spend 5 minutes reviewing and it still gets called wrong - it's a colossal waste of time.

I was much happier with a few mistakes in officiating. IR makes the NFL almost unwatchable.

It was a touchdown, the Steelers got robbed....
If he would have fallen down, he would have been at the 1 ft line, but he purposely extended the ball across the line. His knee was down, his elbow was down, he extended the ball, and then the ground caused a fumble

Replay is not the problem here. It is a nonsensical rule. He survived the ground with his knee. He caught the ball, pulled it into himself and then stretched for the goalline.

Replay is a huge problem. It's become a crutch for the officials, it slows the game, they can't even get it right when they go to replay half the time. It is a problem. I'd prefer the old way, live by the human element. It's ruined the NFL for me. There's a penalty every down and when they go to replay it turns into a major buzzkill. And if there was no replay, Pittsburgh would have won that game...so in that respect I guess I was for replay on Sunday .

I always preferred the "break the plane with possession = TD!" I like replay in football, in theory. But, they've ruined it. They had it exactly right when it started: Give each coach a couple of challenges, and leave it to them to decide IF/WHEN to use them... otherwise, PLAY ON! Now that they've started all these "automatic reviews", it slows the game down WAY TOO MUCH, often on trivial things.

At least add that an unsuccessful challenge results in a lost time out and a delay of game penalty. I really don't like it at all - i liked the human element of the refs prior to replay and i think their overall performance has declined because they use replay as a crutch. They also need to do something about holding which could be called on every play. Why not make offensive linemen wear a special covering over their hands which inhibits their ability to grab hold of jersey's etc. I don't know - huge mittens or something.

An unsuccessful challenge already DOES cost a timeout.
Agree on holding.... its totally bogus. Ripe for abuse. For starters, holding that occurs behind the ball, or on the other side of the field (ie: does not affect the play ) should be ignored. And they need to stop calling false start on linemen who flinch, or burp or fart.
Pass interference needs to change too. The college rule (15 yards) is better.
If actually like to see the league punish officials who make bogus calls
