Would you rather lose a CFP semi-final, or win a NY6?
Are there too many bowls?

The non CFP playoff games have been weakened even further it seems to me.
Much like NFL pre-season games...or MLB inter-league games.
It is still good development time for the younger guys, and they deserve to go somewhere and get some swag if they want to. I don’t begrudge any players for sitting out if its not in their best interest to play. There were a few decent games though, I got no problem with other mid-level P5 and G5 teams playing in those bowls.
You only get so many football games to play as a college athlete. Just need to find some smaller stadiums that don’t look completely empty on tv.
That being said, I'd like to see the NCAA tweak things a bit in ways that could help boost them back up:
1. Allow redshirt players to participate — This allows draft-eligible players to sit out if they choose and a team still has depth for the game...
2. Give every team — bowl eligible or not — the same practice time. Then we avoid the sham of teams like FSU rescheduling UL-Monroe for the sake of extending a bowl streak and practice time.
I’d like to see fewer bowl games, personally. They don’t feel special, especially in the playoff era. No offense to Shreveport or Birmingham, but do we really need the Raycom Dollar General Bowl where 2 teams that went 3-5 in conference battle it out?

I'd prefer to make the playoff. It sucked getting beat last year (and never really being in the game) but this year was just anti-climatic. We beat USC which is always great to do, but the game just didn't have the same excitement level.

As a Florida State fan, the top goal is to make the playoffs
The rest of the goals: #2 Win the ACC #3 Beat Clemson #4 Beat Miami #5 Beat Florida
I don't even care about bowl games. Bowl games are just extra play time and a chance for coaches, players, and fans to have a fun experience. I don't think there are too many bowls. I actually think the bowls could turn into mini-playoffs themselves

Where I think some stray is including winning the natty and then judging overall success of your season on that.
Setting that as a goal is fine, but your season's success shouldn't judged solely on that factor; otherwise, your gonna be very disappointed almost all the time.

Agree with Evil, As a Longhorn fan, my goals are:
1) WIN the CFP! 2) Make it to the CFP. 3) Win the Big 12 Conference 4) Beat OU!!! 5) Make it a bowl and WIN!
I really don't give a crap how many bowls there are. If they can figure out a way to make a Podunk Bowl, invite some teams, pay some money... and let the kids have a little fun? No skin off my nose. Nobody forces me to watch them.
I always prefer to GO to bowl vs NOT GO... and, if we're going to go, I want to WIN! It's better for recruiting that way. And, anyway... I like to WIN, pretty much at everything.

Pretty much the same as Bevo's list.
I said bowls are just about dead several years ago. That said, if a community and sponsors support a PSEG more power to them.

And tigercpa, the Dollar General Bowl consisted of 2 conference champions, App St (Sunbelt) and Toledo (MAC). And App won handily. Defense showed up this game.

All that matters now is making the CFP...everything else is like the NIT. That's why the CFP will eventually expand to include more teams.
