UCF has every right to claim a National Championship. I'll be happy to give them credit for one. It doesn't cost that much to add another one. Other than UCF, ALL "deserving teams" WERE in the playoff. It's amusing how seriously people take this. It's just a bunch of college kids, playing a game that is dying on the vine. It's not the end of civilization here. If you have a 4 team playoff then you can not have 5 deserving teams. Sure you can.... Just, one of the doesn't make it. UCF was NOT deserving to be selected. They didn't do enough during the season. Neither did Ohio State. UCF had a better claim than OSU. But, not better than any of the four who were selected.

That's nonsense...brainwashed college football talk UCF absolutely deserves to play for the National championship. It is not their fault the system sucks Imagine an NFL system where not all division winners made the playoffs...that's where we are in college football

Imagine an NFL system where not all division winners made the playoffs...that's where we are in college football College football is NEVER going to be like the NFL Why is that so hard to understand? The NFL only has 32 teams, made up of professionals who have NOTHING ELSE TO DO other than play football. They can do it whenever they like. They have ZERO other considerations, conflicts, or other parties to deal with. At the time the committee made their decision, Alabama's resume was better than UCF's. As were the other three CFP teams. I would prefer a different system. CJ's rankings would have included UCF. I'd like to think an 8 team format would have included UCF, although their CFP ranking at #12 says otherwise. But, given the system in place, I think the committee made the right decision. Imagine a system where the FBS Champion was given a free pass into the AFC/NFC Title games. Would that be fair?

Actually, college football is very close to having a good system, and that would be an 8-team playoff I don't think Alabama should have been left out, I want to see UCF and Ohio State included. Throw in the PAC12 champ and another wildcard, and we'd have 8 teams.

Bevo which one of these contradictory statements are you going to place your stamp on. Saying the UCF was deserving but the not one of 7 teams that the committee put ahead of them that did not make the playoffs were deserving is s simply ridiculous.

Saying the UCF was deserving but the not one of 7 teams that the committee put ahead of them that did not make the playoffs were deserving is s simply ridiculous. As I said many moons ago, it depends on how one defines "deserving". Deserving of what? If one defines it was "all teams who could realistically had a chance of winning a playoff"? Yes, they were... as were Ohio State and probably a dozen or more other teams. If it's "Having a full year resume that is one of the top 4 in the country"? No. I don't think they were. I think the committee made the only decision defendable given the information they had on hand. Of course, it's all subjective... I get that. Of the teams not selected, I think UCF had the best argument. But, it wouldn't have been enough to convince me. You're correct though. As I worded it, my statements are contradictory. I was changing the definition in my mind as I was writing it. Sorry.

An undisputed and undefeated FBS conference champion that proved on the football field that it was better than the champion of the highly regarded SEC West division............being ELIMINATED from any championship opportunities in a conference room ??..A CONFERENCE ROOM ELIMINATION !!! Are you kidding me ? Shouldn't a team like that be eliminated by losing an elimination football game ? Just can't comprehend the integrity of conference room eliminations in sports. New system - please.
