I have Michigan rated #13 pre-season, but only expect them to go 7-5.
They have the toughest overall schedule in the country. In addition to playing nine Big Ten games, they open @ #14 Notre Dame. Big Ten road games include #3 Ohio State, #22, Michigan State, #24 Northwestern, and #90 Rutgers. At home they get #4 Wisconsin, #7 Penn State, #50 Nebraska, #71 Indiana, and#84 Maryland. The other two non-conference games (both at home) are #56 Western Michigan, and #90 SMU. They miss #20 Iowa, #55 Minnesota, #79 Purdue, and #109 Illinois.
Computer projects the following teams going undefeated (not counting conference championship games): Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Alabama, and Georgia.
Toughest ten schedules in the nation:
1 - Michigan
2- Nebraska
3 - Notre Dame
4 - Purdue
5 - UCLA
6 - Florida State
7 - Arizona State
8 - Louisiana State
9 - Oregon State
10 - Georgia Tech
Of note, there are 111 games against non-FBS teams as follows:
15 - SEC (14 teams) - Florida plays 2 (one of which is Idaho - FBS in 2017) 14 - ACC (14 teams) 13 - CUSA (14 teams) 12 - American (12 teams) 11 - MWC (12 teams) 10 - Sun Belt (10 teams) 10 - MAC (12 teams) 9 - Pac 12 (12 teams) 8 - Big 12 (10 teams) 7 - Independent (6 teams) - Army plays 2, Liberty plays 2 2 - Big Ten (14 teams)

Got a chance to see Clemson practice. Holy hell this team is absolutely loaded across the board.
They may not win it all, but have mercy....
Trevor Lawrence ran a 50-yard TD against the 1st string defense. Dabo said they couldn't catch him.
His run, of course brought comparisons to.....not Deshaun, but Lamar Jackson.
Clemson will miss Dorian O'Daniel at LB and the DBs need some seasoning.

I'd be interested to see your top to bottom rankings. Playing Wisconsin from the west side is tough but at least they get them in Ann Arbor. Who knows about the opener against ND - unfortunately that one's on the road.
OSU plays Nebraska, Minnesota and Purdue from the west side - I think all three will be improved in 2018. They also travel to Dallas to play TCU. The other non-con games should allow all three QB's to play; Oregon State and Tulane.
I'm most worried about the trips to MSU and PSU which are never easy.

I agree, Doc.
That's no cakewalk of a season.

I think next year's Ohio State team has the potential to be the best of the Urban Era....but the holy crap that schedule is pretty brutal! Penn State and Michigan State on the road, a neutral site game vs TCU IN TEXAS!!! Purdue, Minnesota and Nebraska from the west whom will all flirt with being at least top 40 if not top 25 teams this year and Ohio State really doesn't have that many gimme's....if they only have one loss they should be in Playoff as the Big Ten East will be nasty this year.

Playing OSU, Wisconsin and PSU really boosts Michigan's preseason ranking. It will be interesting to see how the SOS looks next November. I think Purdue and Minnesota will be improved. Nebraska should be, too. Playing Oregon State and Tulane hurts OSU, for sure. Actually SMU is pretty close to Tulane - the big gap is between WMU and Oregon State. But having Wisconsin on the schedule is a big boost although Ohio State could wind up playing the Badgers in the BIG championship.

I have a stat based system based solely on 4 year stats and 5 year recruiting. I have a top 10 of 1. Alabama 2. Ohio St 3. USC 4. Georgia 5. Clemson 6. Oklahoma 7. LSU 8. FSU 9. Stanford 10.Penn St
14. Michigan 10-2
This system has worked well at picking the CFP champion and conference champions. Of course this system has each P5 conference champion going undefeated since they do not play each other. If only I could come up with a system that would pick upsets, LOL.

The only surprise I see is that Wisconsin is not in the top 10. They've been very consistent over the past 4 years - I think they made the BIG title game 3 - but they also lost every time. Still a very consistent program. Hopefully a couple of the other teams in the west can elevate their game a bit to make it more competitive.

Good stuff. Very typical for SEC but cowardly scheduling is the ticket in the mythical system

One huge advantage NFL FB has over big time CF.....no 'custom' scheduling. Then, again, no opinion driven mythical championship system.
