The Warriors were losing to the Rockets 94-92 in the final 10 seconds.....the Houston Rockets played excellent defense on Clay Thompson, and forced him to shoot an air ball at the buzzer and Houston wins 94-92 game over...….except it wasn't.
The Referee's went to the replay booth and decided Golden State fouled the Houston rebounder(Chris Paul with half a second left...…..so instead of the game being over the Rockets have to shoot two free throws with half a second left......Chris Paul misses the first and hits the second.
Golden State uses their last time out and for whatever reason in the NBA the ball advances past half court...….on the inbound play Steph Curry gets open and BARELY MISSSES the tying three.....but in the back of my mind I'm wondering how backwards is that?
Houston almost got penalized for playing good defense originally...…..I mean to me this is like the offensive team in football committing a penalty in the last minute every time until they score a touchdown....and the defense having no opportunity to decline it. The NBA has to change that rule

I watched the entire game. You described the situation perfectly. As I was watching, I was yelling at Paul to MISS the second FT. No way anyone could rebound and get a full court shot off in 0.5 seconds. But, by making it, and letting GS call time out, they actually had a chance to tie the game. It was a joke.
Actually, the refs did their dead level best to keep GS in the game. Down the stretch, they let Curry get two 3-point plays on 100% PHANTOM fouls. On one of them, the Rocket player covering him never touched him, and didn't even have his hands in the air... yet, Curry gets to go to the line.
Houston won IN SPITE of the refs.

I'm rooting for Houston to knock off the Warriors - that group needs to be knocked down a peg or 10. I used to like Curry but now he's a bit full of himself. I never liked Green. And Durant pulled the ultimate act of cowardice by joining a team that won 72 games because he couldn't beat them. This move basically made the NBA a 'playing for second place' league.
Anyway, the half court rule following a time out has been around forever. I'm not sure what the thought process behind it was but it certainly favors the team trailing in the last seconds - the leading team gets penalized in my opinion. And I agree, I've never understood why a player doesn't just miss a foul shot when they're leading with under a second to play - it's impossible to get off a shot in that scenario.

I feel the same way about Curry. I REALLY liked the guy at first, but... lately, he's gotten SO cocky, and really exhibiting very poor sportsmanship. I expect better from "great" players.
And Durant? Muh.... If he'd stayed at Texas two more years, we'd have two NC titles... but, just rented a UT jersey for 5 months. I have little love for him.
GO ROCKETS!!!!
