If I had to predict the 2020 championship, I would say Ohio State vs. Clemson
Buckeye fans should like this, because I usually don't pick the Buckeyes to make it. I always see them as hovering between a 1-loss to 2-loss range, and usually I'm right. Betting money usually suggest that eventually Meatchicken will eventually win one.
Not this year...I know Ohio State lost some studs to the draft, but they have the QB to get them back. I'm officially drinking the scarlet and grey kool-aid this year
Clemson is a no-brainer
Alabama and LSU? I think they've lost too many players...the competition in the SEC has risen too...At some point Texas A&M won't be the easy out anymore

I thought the game at Oregon could be trouble......now I dont think it will be played ( in not sure entire West Coast states will play football this year) I do think the Buckeyes will replace them with someone possibly BYU.

I pretty much agree with you that Ohio State and Clemson look to be the odds in teams. Both continue to reload and the both have arguably the best QB in the nation depending on who you talk to. Alabama I think will be fine at QB and can see them in the mix as well. Pretty hard to see who else is in the mix. Oklahoma has to replace there QB after a lot of experience has been through there. To me this will tell us if Lincoln Riley will be mentioned in the elites. Oregon comes to mind but they will likely need to get in through the back door with the Buckeyes on the schedule. ND is in the same boat with Clemson on the schedule. LSU lost a lot and I thought Joe Brady was gone as well. Kind of feels like the Rich are getting Richer. Others that come to mind are Penn St, Florida, and UGA. Not sure about Texas either. They got there QB back but not sure if the Jimmies and Joes they have can get them there.
Actually one of the games I am defintely looking forward to is the Oregon vs NDSU. What if NDSU pulls off that win the Oregon knocks off the Buckeyes? There would be some pretty interesting talking points regarding who the best team in the country is.

I think it's Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama and everybody else. Georgia will probably be 4. Penn State will be top 10, as well.
I just want football. OSU should light up the scoreboards like a pinball machine. The O-line may be better than last year, Justin Fields was a Heisman runner-up, they have a stable of backs that are more than adequate and the receiving corp may be young but extremely talented. Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson will be the headliners but receivers like Julian Fleming, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jameson Williams will certainly get their share of targets. The tight ends are all back.
Defensively they need to replace Chase Young and 3 DB's but the back-ups all had great experience. Shaun Wade returning will be great for the defensive backfield. Zach Harrison will take over for Chase Young while Jonathan Cooper, who was a starter in 2018 at DE, returns from an injury filled 2019 season. The DE position is deep as Smith, Friday and Jean Baptist all got plenty of PT last year. LBers are deep - starters Werner and Borland return along with Justin Hilliard, Terdja Mitchell and Baron Browning. D line has plenty of talent including Taron Vincent who missed the entire 2019 season. This team will be a force.

There would be some pretty interesting talking points regarding who the best team in the country is. Different teams, different years. It wouldn't mean ANYTHING to me. But, I'm sure it would keep the chattering class at ESPN going for a few weeks.

If UNC beats UCF and Auburn to open the season, they will likely move to T10 or T5.
