The PAC 12 conference has lost a lot of ground with the current playoff system. Their network sucks. They need some kind of spark. Gone are the days of USC holding the football banner for the conference. Even Oregon hasn't been their usual selves.
Add Houston...a large media market that pulls them east, and provides a great recruiting ground.

Actually I think it makes more sense that the Big XII adds Houston but what do I know. Add Hoston and Cincinnati (or Central Florida).

Houston to the PAC XII?? LOL Not a chance.
Academically, the University of Houston is barely higher than a local community college. There's a reason it's been known as "Cougar High".
The PAC XII turned down Texas A&M due to academic concerns. No way they would accept Houston.
The Big 12 probably would, and I think... should. Before, there were concerns about having too many teams in Texas? I think the conference would rather add a new state, like Florida.

But in Expansion-Land, markets and all sorts of stuff are in consideration. The Big XII Texas teams might not want to share with another Texas addition, and the non-Texas teams probably don't want the power to shift even more to Texas....
Despite Longhorn overreach in the conference, the Big XII is actually doing pretty good. If they were going to add anyone, UCF or Cincinnati would be good choices (at least in satisfying the power players in the conference).

But the major point in my argument is that the PAC 12 is struggling. They are at a real disadvantage geographically, and have really suffered in the last 10 years without having a marquee football program. Their network is kind of a flop. Larry Scott got fired recently too
The PAC 12 would love to get Texas...but that's highly doubtful that would ever happen. Maybe if they tried to poach Kansas and add Houston along the way....

You’re not thinking correctly. The PAC12 values academics over athletics... by a mile. They’d love Texas. But, not many other schools in the state.
