Doc,
MamaBevo and I watched this on a PBS channel last night. She pretended to hate it, but... she watched the entire thing with me. Says she never understood the allure of Marilyn.
Honestly, I THOUGHT I'd seen this movie before. A few minutes in, I was sure I had not.
What a movie. Really, two movies in one... A hard edged gangster movie, and a sexy comedy.
That movie came out the year I was born, 1959. If you EVER wondered why Marilyn Monroe was popular, this movie will give you TWO big reasons why. She was practically topless for most of the movie. I never saw a movie that featured the beauty of female breasts in a better way... without ever fully showing them. Wow... like, wow.
In the end, it was a bit corny. But, I really liked it. Besides the boobs, I just found in interesting to watch a 62 year old movie, depicting a time 92 years ago. They do it better when it's only 30 years previous. Watching Tony Curtis do a Cary Grant impression was extremely entertaining.
And, that really IS the point of movies, isn't it? To entertain?
PS> We went to the Cinemark on Friday and watch M. Knight Shamylan's "Old". I thought it was interesting. I like Sci-Fi. But, the premise failed on one very obvious point; Old people, in that environment, would be PEEING every 1.5 seconds. No way they could hydrate enough to stay alive.
Also... FYI>>>> Our LLS Donation will be incoming tomorrow. Sadly, my pathetic company will NOT be re-starting matching donations.
