I think I've finally given up on this stat in college football...its actually pretty useless
Texas and Alabama rolled into the playoff with much stronger SOS numbers than Michigan and Washington
What influence did SOS have in the actual playoff game results? Zilch. Nada.
Washington actually had a really weak SOS (65 maybe?), despite many viewers of college football seeing the PAC 12 as one of the more competitive conferences this year. I don't get it
It's a garbage stat that tells nothing about a team. Why it is cherished like it actually means something is beyond me...prime college football dumbth

Because it’s all you have when trying to compare teams that haven’t played each other or even any common opponents.
It’s never been a perfect measure. Just because a team played nobody doesn’t make THEM a bad team. It just means, we don’t know how good they are until they play against someone good.
