I’ve been to three of those four. Never made it to Australia, sadly.
I could have, once…. But I let one of my reports take the trip instead. She had already flown home to Malaysia on her own money. By letting her do the technical service, she was able to charge the return flight to the company. And anyway, she was better in that process than I was.
Korea is really a beautiful country. It’s rugged, but not with huge mountains. It’s very green. It’s also very crowded! So many people, densely packed.
Their primary diet is SO much healthier than ours that their people simply do not age. It can be difficult to estimate their age. Generally, they’re older than you think they are.
Because they eat so many fresh vegetables, literally every square inch of fertile ground has something growing on it. Kimchi is very healthy, but… I hate it. And, they eat it at almost every meal. There are different kinds of kimchi. The “water kimchi”, I found to be the least offensive. I could get it down, mixed with other things.
India is an entirely different world. There are many things about their culture that really trouble me, But, I try to keep in mind; they’ve been living together for 5000 years. We’re what? Like 400 tops? Maybe that’s what happens over time? But it is an interesting place. From moment to moment, you NEVER know what you’re going to see.
Malaysia is a backward place. Stuck between 1st and 3rd world status. The cities have a modern look. But if you scratch the veneer, you don’t have to dig deep to find crap. (
The good thing though is; the people! They are extremely friendly and always eager. They work hard. They have a unique style of food that is heavy on fruits and beans. But, it always taste great.
It’s a big world out there. Full of interesting people and ideas. But, there is no place like home. I never saw any place I’d rather live than here.
