Last night, I was angry at Cal for unexplainable coaching decisions... In a game where UK had NO SCORING (except for Ulis and Murray), and virtually NO Front Line presence, Calipari did the following:
- Barely played Derek Willis, a big man with 3 point shooting ability... a KEY player down the stretch,
- NEVER played 7 footer, Humphries... who's been playing more and more minutes in the last three weeks, playing very well,
- Played senior guard, Hawkins... almost ALL of the first half, and much of the second.... He's a player who's rarely played all year, has NO offensive game
- Seemed during the game, and in post game press conferences to "not really care" about how the game turned out.
To, today... angry with the NCAA for allowing Texas A&M to have a higher seed than Kentucky. UK should NOT have been playing Big 10 Champion, Indiana, in round 2. We BEAT A&M, 2 out of 3, including the conference championship... NO WAY A&M should be seeded higher. Despite what fairness dictated, the NCAA tried to get their juicy TV matchup... UT vs A&M... which, they didn't get anyway. It's total BS.
Frankly... I think Calipari didn't care. He knew this team wasn't going far, and he just didn't feel like fighting it any longer.
He'll come back next year... with a team so good, it won't matter where, or how they seed us.
I'm going to Vegas next week... and now, I've got NO TEAM to root for. What a bummer.
I guess, I'm an Xavier fan now? Or, whoever is playing against Notre Dame and Oklahoma.
