More fake news.
This is getting so blatantly ridiculous as to be comical. The U.S. is using every kind of deceitful pretext to villainize Russia before Trump takes over.
Here's the real story: The Burlington Electric Department ran a virus scan on their computers. In the process, they "detected the malware in a single Burlington Electric Department laptop not connected to our organization’s grid systems."
I wonder what porn site the laptop owner was surfing when he got the commodity malware?
Burlington Electric Department is the municipally-owned electric utility of Burlington, Vermont. Its miniscule generating capacity is about 50 MW, split evenly between a single wood-fired generator and a gas-turbine generator plus a tiny hydro generator and a dash of solar and wind capacity.
If the Russians are targeting the US utility system, and their only success is an unconnected laptop of some internet-surfing city employee of the Electric Department of Burlington, Vermont, they really aren't much of a threat.
Geez....Dems are grasping at straws....50%+ of Dems believe that Russian hacking means adjusting the vote count.
Even our local NPR news this morning made it very clear the laptop was nothing to do with the grid. This level of hysteria is simply amazing...

Can't you read?? The article is about the Russians hacking a company laptop! Even the headline says exactly that. The evidence is totally consistent with the FBI-DHS report that it was the Russians who had hacked the computer. That is significant news. Nothing fake about it. You will remain hopeless until you are able to think on your own, instead of parroting the radical right web sites upon which you depend so heavily.

"The Burlington Electric Department confirmed Friday it had found on one of its laptops the malware code used in Grizzly Steppe, the name Homeland Security has applied to a Russian campaign linked to recent hacks."
That is good enough for me. I really don't care whether you believe it.
It just seems weird that you, Hero and Bevo are going through such contortions to deny the undeniable -- that the Russian government has been identified and exposed by the FBI and U.S. intelligence agencies for directing computer hackings throughout the U.S. and Europe, including interfering with the U.S. election.

For someone who constantly rails against conspiracies, you have fallen for this one hook, line and sinker.
Did you notice the peculiar disclaimer according to which nothing contained in the report should be taken at face value or was even credible after the DHS said it "does not provide any warranties of any kind regarding any information contained within"...
1. It did not penetrate the electrical grid, like some of the pols, especially Vermont's governor is mouthing off about. Pure BS grandstanding. 2. It's commodity malware, which alone cannot be attributed to Russia or its government, it's "alleged" to be...
A Russian outfit 'Grizzly Bear' using easily spread, outdated Ukrainian malware to attack the US grid? LOL.
They’re adding momentum to the meme of Russian hacking in hopes of cementing into the liberal mindset that Dems made no mistakes and Hillary is really the winner, all but for those bastard Russians.

Rolling Stone? Do you really, really trust Rolling Stone over the FBI and DHS? Do you also believe Rolling Stone's UVA rape story? Why do you condone Russian government interference in the U.S. election? Is it because Donald Trump had already dismissed it and written it off before being briefed by the intelligence agencies?

I can condone BS, fake news that is polticially motivated and not based on proven facts.
Why do you want this story to be true?

I don't want it to be true. Rather, I accept that it is true. The evidence is overwhelming in the eyes of the FBI, DHS and the intelligence community that it is true. It is disgraceful that Trump is determined to give Putin a pass before being briefed by the intelligence agencies. It reminds me of Obama mocking Romney for correctly assessing that Russia is without doubt our number one geopolitical foe. I am concerned that Trump might be even more naive than Obama when it comes to Vladimir Putin. Call it "fake news" if you wish (are you capable of an original thought?). It doesn't change the fact that there is an overwhelming bi-partisan consensus that the Russian government meddled in the U.S. election. The fact that the Russians failed to influence the outcome of the election doesn't absolve them of being responsible for having attempted to do so.

You can't and Obama can't.

polination.wordpress.com/2016/12/30/iowahawk-explains-russian-hacking/Iowahawk dismantles the Russian hacking story: 1/ John Podesta, like 100% of everyone who has ever had a email account, received a password phishing email. He fell for it. — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 2/ According to some accounts, the phishing email had Russian fingerprints/ characteristics in its metadata. — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 3/ whatever the case, the password purloiners downloaded his emails, which eventually got into the hands of Wikileaks, who made them public. — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 4/ The emails were mildly embarrassing, revealing frequent circle jerking between the DNC and journalists. Mostly embarrassing to media. — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 5/ At the time of their release (Oct) they were hardly covered by any media, and largely dismissed as a big fat nothingburger. — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 6/ Not one of the people whose emails were revealed has ever disputed their authenticity or provenance. — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 7/ Fast forward to December. The October nothingburger has now magically transformed into “vote hacking” and “election hacking.” — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 8/ new narrative: treasonous Trump operatives conspired with Putin to hypnotically mesmerize Clinton voters into pulling the wrong lever. — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 9/ This is not Alex Jones or angry conspiracy kook Facebook uncles, it’s the NYTs, the WaPo, our beloved State Radio. — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 10/ how effective has this been? If polls are to be believed, 50%+ of Democrats believe the Russians literally modified vote tallies. — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 11/ none of this is a defense of Trump, or his garbage kleptocrat pal Putin. It’s an indictment of our garbage narrative-driven media. — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016 12/ it shouldn’t have to take a drunk internet nobody to point any of this out, but hey, here we are.

I don't have to prove that it was Putin. The FBI has concluded that it was the Russian government. So has DHS. So has the DNI. So have the intelligence agencies. That is more than good enough for me.
I don't, won't and shouldn't have access to the classified information to which Donald Trump will soon be privy. Neither do or should you or Hero, and neither do or should the loony web sites you frequent.
Just curious, what do you and Hero think Trump should do regarding the sanctions, which are scheduled to expire soon, that were placed on Russia for invading and illegally annexing Crimea, and for invading eastern Ukraine? You might recall that Trump's choice for Secretary of State fought hard in a losing cause to get the sanctions lifted.
