Hen is right. The 16 team tournament would be better than anything the FBS has now. Full participation with all the conference champions playing. With early rounds on campus, even up to the semifinals. And yes Bevo, there will be some blow outs, some of the G5 Champs and the P5 at larges. But there will also be upsets and a much better tournament. It works for FCS, Div. II, Div. III, high school, NAIA, and NFL.

The games with the most excitement and players wanting to play and win will be the pre-Christmas bowls. Mostly made up of G5 schools, they rarely have starters sitting out. They care more about the game than the P5's will in the after Christmas bowls. GO APP! Beat Miami! (Ohio)

Evil, you are correct. ESPN wanted there conference to be represented. An SEC team was going into the playoff. The committee got there walking orders and put in Alabama. And if Bama had lost to Auburn, they would have used the "best team" position to put in Georgia. (They've been the best team all year)

I still think they are. While the overall record may be different, the conference record is what you go by for the conference champion. Looking at the SEC this year, if you didn't have divisions, you have Alabama and Georgia tied at the top with 8-0 conference record. With the possibility of the top teams not playing each other, you have nothing to go by to decide who is champion and gets the auto bid in the future. The ACC had the possibility earlier this season with having 3 teams, undefeated and not playing each other. How do you decide that (of course it didn't happen). With the large conferences and not playing a full round robin schedule, CCG will still necessary

So let me keep up. What are the 4 games, that regardless of the winner, are automatically in the semifinal? Because all I keep reading and seeing is there are the 5 P5 CCG's and depending on the outcome, will determine who is in the CFP "semifinals". And I keep seeing and hearing from the talking heads at "ESPN an SEC team has to be in", if one team wins (FSU in the ACC CCG) but an upset in the SEC CCG (Alabama over Georgia), 2 SEC teams will get in cause "FSU isn't the same team it was 5 weeks ago". Some quarterfinal.

As I, along with Hen, have said all along, it needs to be a 16 team playoff, with ALL the conference champs qualified and the rest at large, 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds played at the higher seeds campus with the final at a neutral site. We'll still have arguments as who the last at large teams should be included, it will have ALL the major contenders. And make LOTS of money

Appalachian throttles Ga. Southern this past Saturday and, with JMU beating Coastal, are now the Sun Belt East Division champs. The Mountaineers will play Troy on Saturday for the title. GO APPS!!!!

The media can't do math. They've proven it over time

That should do it, but Dabo has to change. He's gotta embrace the portal

Yes, that will have the Mountaineers "winners" of the East, since JMU is not eligible for the CCG.

Appalachian takes down undefeated JMU in Harrisonburg after Game Day fawns all over them. Still in the hunt for the Sun Belt title game.

I think JMU is the exception to the rule. Most teams that move up have difficult first years. However, both App State and Ga. Southern had winning seasons in our second year of transition (2014), 1st year in the Sun Belt. Our 1st transistion year, we were still FCS and SoCon members (also ineligible for post season play)

They could win the West. They do have some tough conference games coming up, including Troy this week, along with Ga Southern and Coastal Carolina. If they do win the West, they'll probably have to play at the East champ. This weekend will tell.

I think it's a cost protection. 2 years to gradually get up to 85 scholarship players. Time to raise more money for it. I guess.

Year 2 of a 2 year transition, which makes them ineligible for postseason. Thems the rules. Appalachian State had to do it.
