Today is the best day of the year to watch baseball on TV. GAME 163. The one game playoffs. Brewers and Cubs just started.
Rockies at Dodgers as soon as this one finishes.

Except all 4 teams will be in the playoffs. The real beneficiary of this are the Atlanta Braves who will be able to enter the playoffs with their rotation set while the other teams have to use their best to stay alive.

The entire MLB post season can be very dramatic with every pitch critical and not one single Divisional champ or wild card entry will receive one single conference room committee 'vote'. Can you imagine that ?..a sports championship decided by playing post season elimination baseball and 'ZERO' opinions deciding anything ? These other sports just don't seem to get it with their crazy 'competition' based championship systems.

Playing is better than Voting. In FBS football, there is plenty of playing... all year long. EVERY game counts. You can see wonderful post-season tournaments that completely negate the regular season in virtually every other sport. College football is special. Unique. And, wonderful.

Playing is better than Voting. In FBS football, there is plenty of playing... all year long. EVERY game counts. You can see wonderful post-season tournaments that completely negate the regular season in virtually every other sport. College football is special. Unique. And, wonderful. Your argument for a 'meaningful' regular season ( for the NCAA exhibition div) can only have credibility if there was balanced scheduling...which is not even remotely so
For example, Bevo, explain the meaningfulness of Bama vs the Citadel
Explain the meaningfulness of some teams playing 4 or 5 home games and others playing 7 or 8
Explain the meaningfulness of major conf champs being denied post season championship opportunities while divisional runner-ups in other conferences are given opportunities.
Explain the meaningfulness of Alabama playing one lone single genuine away game ( not neutral site) vs a P5 opponent in the last 10 years.
Explain the meaningfulness of the most powerful conference feeling the need to play over 25% of its entire OOC schedule vs a lower division. ( at home of course)
Explain the meaningfulness of conferences playing different number of league games.
Explain the meaningfulness of custom scheduling
Explain the meaningfulness of national semi-finalists being determined by opinions and TV draw.
Explain the meaningfulness of 13-0 teams being denied so called natty opportunities'
Explain the meaningfulness of 60 % of all FBS teams advancing to post season play
Explain the meaningfulness of the so called championship NOT being awarded or administered by the governing body of the sport
.certainly agree that it's unique for sure. The 'mythical' nature of the championship system ( vs competition based systems) is the single most unique aspect.
I could ask 'meaningfulness' questions forever

For all, the answer is the same:
Lose ONE, and your chances go WAY down. Lose TWO, and you’re OUT!
Every game matters

When do the Astros play? And why does the MLB wait till October for the playoff.... Astros play Friday about lunchtime. I have always wondered about that second question.

For all, the answer is the same: Lose ONE, and your chances go WAY down. Lose TWO, and you’re OUT! Every game matters Bama's loss to Auburn and consequent 2nd place finish in a league 'division' didn't seem to matter last season.
UCF's victories in every single game it played last season didn't seem to matter.
The concept of the big time CF regular season being some kind of playoff is totally and ridiculously bogus.

When do the Astros play? And why does the MLB wait till October for the playoff.... Astros play Friday about lunchtime. I have always wondered about that second question. Well, it is the 'Fall Classic'.
What MLB did to Colorado is really unfair. Obviously they didn't want them to continue - they wanted LA and Chicago to move in. I get that they had to be the road team due to their records. But to make them fly to LA, play a game and then fly to Chicago for a game the next day was very unfair. Meanwhile Oakland and the Yankees get 2 days off before they play their wildcard game tonight. Why not let Oakland and NY play Tuesday night and give Colorado a day to travel to Chicago? In the end it backfired, Chicago got 2 home games and could only score 2 runs but MLB sure did their part to help the Cubs move on. That Rockie team must be a pretty tough group.
