Here is a question that only 2020 creates. The bowls will be set (with teams with losing records) along with the CFP. What is going to happen if one of the teams has a Covid outbreak? Will the game be postponed, cancelled, or, with enough time, another team invited? And what of the CFP? What if Alabama has a large outbreak? Delay the game, or both games or Alabama forfeits? Lots of questions this year.

I think I would pick the top 4. Then have Alternates 1 to 4. For the first round if a team can't play highest Alternate gets the spot. Championship game is a bit trickier.

With the state playoffs for football here in Ohio, if a team had an outbreak it was considered a forfeit. Not sure if they'd do that with a college playoff but based on occasions I've seen in the B1G and elsewhere, it generally takes a team a couple weeks to rebound from a COVID outbreak. The season could drag into February. Maybe they could give all the qualifying playoff teams the vaccine - that would go over like a lead balloon!

After watching the fiasco with Florida State unfold and hearing about the significant travel expenses and then watching Clemson play in an empty Lane Stadium, I can’t help but wonder if the Playoff semi-finals should be moved from their usual venues.
Changing venues isn’t completely unheard of. During WWII, it was recommended that the Rose Bowl be cancelled because such large crowds on the West coast could be target for a Japanese attack. Rather than cancelling the game, Duke hosted the game in Durham on January 1st, 1942. The Oregon State Beavers defeated the Duke Blue Devils 20-16. Likewise, when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the 2006 Sugar Bowl was moved to Atlanta, where West Virginia beat Georgia.
If the Sugar Bowl ends up being played between Alabama and Notre Dame, would playing outdoors in Nashville make more sense than playing indoors in an empty stadium in New Orleans? For the Rose Bowl, wouldn’t almost any site east of the Mississippi make more sense than an empty stadium on the West Coast? Perhaps Knoxville, TN, or Lexington, KY? Either of those site would be much closer to all of the playoff contenders than Pasadena, CA.
In a year when everyone wants to minimize costs as budgets are squeezed and avoid travel as COVID-related safety is prioritized, it simply makes no sense to make teams fly so far to play in front of empty seats. These bowl games should find locations that will be cheaper and safer for the teams to travel to and allow them to generate a whatever small amount of revenue they can from limited fan attendance
Of course, it is unlikely things change this late in the planning, but it sure would be more fun to watch the game with at least some fans cheering them on. No matter, I’ll be grateful to watch football however it is served to me and hope to see the Tigers play in Miami for the National Championship, where fans will be present.

I've heard rumblings that the Rose Bowl could be moved to Texas - California is in lockdown and the 49ers can't even play in-state. I agree that it really doesn't matter where the game is played given there won't be many fans in attendance.
The Rose Bowl is a beautiful venue - I attended the '97 game, OSU vs ASU. There isn't a bad seat in the place. But it didn't suck watching the OSU/TCU game in the comfort of AT&T Stadium a couple years ago, either.

True, but the smart people said there'd be no vaccine before mid 2021 All the "smart" "experts", in their irrational hatred of Trump, all said he was a buffoon, stupid, etc. for saying that a vaccine would be ready in 2020. The "experts" have been wrong continuously throughout this process. Trump is still way smarter than they are.....

I'll give you 10-1 odds, cpa that trump's IQ is under 115 if he ever took a test and shared. His Penn classmates remember him as being dumb relative to most in his classes. Re: covid he also said a various times that it was a hoax (Dumb), that we had a few cases but it would go away (dumb)...'.magically' go way (extra dumb), that maybe injecting Clorox or Lysol would kill it off ( extra super dumb) and that, since he had it and feels great, one shouldn't worry about it or let it interfere with your life ( homicidal negligence dumbth !) and numerous times that "we've turned the corner" ( on Covid as the death rate spiraled uncontrollably toward 300,000 ( mega dumbth )....and that he was the envy of the world and gets congratulatory calls on how he's managed the virus ( Stupidity, lies and dumbth X 100 as the USA is 4.2 % of population Earth with almost 20% of Covid deaths). Oh yeah..... and that Dr. Fauci and those scientists are "idiots" . Someone could write a book ( and probably will ) about the plethora of trump lies and super stupidity regarding Corona Virus. "Buffoon" is way too kind, IMO.

He was just following Fauxi, the "expert" and scarf lady, another "expert". Fauxi and scarf lady have been as wrong as your average local weather personality. Fauxi said many fo the same things as Trump about the virus. With 90% of the US under restrictions, compliance with mask usage and yet cases and deaths are spiraling uncontrollably, what are we to take away from this? 1. masks and lockdowns have limited efficacy. In fact the largest RCT study tells us this. No one could have done any better.

I heard him say and saw him say the Clorox/Lysol stuff while looking directly at Dr Burks In one of his daily briefings back in the daily update press conferences of the Spring. The problem, cpa, is that the idiotic radicalization right wing media will never show such clips showing trump for what he is. It was commonly aired by what you trump apologists call 'main stream media' Fauci and other scientists surely had to find their way on combating a brand new virus. That's happened commonly throughout medical history, but you don't call people with expertise 'idiots' with IQs light years higher than your own. There is no high universal compliance with CDC guidelines....that's why a nation with 4.2% of the Earth's population let's 20% of Covid deaths occur within its borders. For example, my home region - When I go shopping I see probably 25 % of others not worrying about distancing, masking or hand hygiene. I feel confident in guessing that this crowd is pretty well the same crowd with confederate flags, Trump signs, junk cars, appliances and trash scattered around their trailers and watch stuff like Newsmax, Foxnews etc. while they play with their AR15s. Trump routinely makes fun of people wearing masks, from Biden to news reporters. Trump holds super spreader trump worshiping events. Trump ignores all the scientific facts and virus fighting protocols and that's probably why the Whitehouse has been an epi-center of Covid cases. This garbage that comes out of his mouth resonates with this group of people....and again, that's why 4.2% of humanity is responsible for 20% of Corona deaths. No other head of state has failed this miserably.
Still claim he never said it, cpa ? IMO lay off the specialized mis-information media.
There is other footage showing the look of horror on Dr. Burke's face who dr. trump was addressing this idiocy directly to.
