you do know how this expansion realignment stuff works right? no one ever telegraphs what they are doing... Too often there’s a belief that doing something fast and stupid is better than methodical and smart. Well, I don't have much confidence in the B1G commissioner doing the right thing.

Too often there’s a belief that doing something fast and stupid is better than methodical and smart. So, I guess Texas and OU have formally stated they will be OUT of the Big 12 by 2025. Maybe, $86M was too big a pill to swallow for a 3 year head start? Or, maybe... they think they can negotiate the amount down. Seems it would be in the BIG 12's interest to not have this linger too long. They need to get replacements onboard quick.

Arizona State is NOT AAU; Arizona is. If they take Pac 12 teams, they will be AAU. Was Nebraska AAU when they were admitted? Yes, but they aren't now so I guess the B1G is somewhat flexible.

During the conference-realignment tornado, some of the names tossed around in rumors are Clemson, Ohio State, Florida State, and Michigan.
Here’s how each has faired in their last ten games vs. SEC opponents.
Clemson: 8-2 Ohio State: 2-8 Florida State: 7-3 Michigan: 4-6

The ACC can’t get antsy and invite AAC teams into the conference just for the sake of getting bigger.
I think adding Notre Dame has to be priority #1. Sell them on the fact that the revenue gap between them and the SEC just grew exponentially. Remind them that scheduling games against SEC opponents is going to become exceedingly hard (would you want to play Notre Dame in the non-conference slate if you had a ridiculously hard SEC schedule?). Then offer up some incentives. Work with them to figure out a pod system that they’re happy with. Offer to bring in West Virginia or Navy as a 16th school if that makes it more appealing for them. Give them some assurances about scheduling.
I think if the ACC adds Notre Dame, I think Clemson can almost certainly stay put. If not, then it just depends on the fall-out from the Big 12 situation. Clemson would then need to find an escape hatch.

That's good stuff. UVA and UNC would also become rivals. WV will instantly be a better draw on conference schedules than at least 1/3rd of the current ACC schools. At the end of the day, it all depends on what ESPN says. If it moves the ESPN needle, they’re in, if not, they’re out. Only ESPN knows the true answer.
