The ACC can’t get antsy and invite AAC teams into the conference just for the sake of getting bigger. I think adding Notre Dame has to be priority #1. Sell them on the fact that the revenue gap between them and the SEC just grew exponentially. Remind them that scheduling games against SEC opponents is going to become exceedingly hard (would you want to play Notre Dame in the non-conference slate if you had a ridiculously hard SEC schedule?). Then offer up some incentives. Work with them to figure out a pod system that they’re happy with. Offer to bring in West Virginia or Navy as a 16th school if that makes it more appealing for them. Give them some assurances about scheduling. I think if the ACC adds Notre Dame, I think Clemson can almost certainly stay put. If not, then it just depends on the fall-out from the Big 12 situation. Clemson would then need to find an escape hatch. I think Kansas would be a good pick up for #15 I think TCU and Oklahoma State are interesting as well When I read about West Virginia, all I see is peoples' horrible experiences going to Morgantown Been to Morgantown many times and have not seen anything bad that stood out. I even wore my tOSU gear a few times. The stories I heard about the bad experiences were many years back but maybe I was not in the action zone.

It's all about the money.
Consider the ACC, whose members earn $32.4 million each. A good bit of that comes from Clemson being in the CFP consistently.
A 15th team would have to earn $32.4 million just to keep everyone else whole. It's not just about making the overall pie bigger, you have to make the slices bigger too!
ND obviously could, and likely WV. The Mountaineers routinely make bowls and March Madness.
Either that, or you force out schools that bring the average down.
