Not interested in a subjective 'greatest of all time' list, and it's not my list. That list is simply the historical /factual/documented record of the most difficult to beat head coaches of all time.....the ones with the highest winning success rates. You must separate 'opinionated greatest' from documented 'most difficult to beat' to comprehend it.
Think of the difference as something like this Bevo : Compare a top 10 or 20 list of A) the greatest popular music musicians of all time with a list of the B) most talented musicians of all time. They will not be the same....not even close........and you probably wouldn't even hear of the most talented names. You wade through the hype, you can find the truth.
The hyped GOAT was the 41st most difficult to beat. That's not mine or anyone else's opinion.
All musician rankings are purely subjective. Your list is a nice stat. But, that's ALL it is.. a stat. One of MANY that have to be considered when trying to decide who was the GOAT.

My list of the top musicians in my illustrious career as a music fan starts with the following 4.... The Beatles Stevie Wonder Queen Prince I also happen to think they were/are equally great and talented. Prince and Stevie Wonder played all the instruments on many of their albums - Songs in the Key of Life is an absolute masterpiece. Abbey Road is my favorite album - I named our daughter after it. A Night at the Opera by Queen is another masterpiece as is Sign o' the Times by Prince.

Talented, yes, but how aware are you of music outside of pop culture ?

Talented, yes, but how aware are you of music outside of pop culture ? I can listen to all genres but not a big hip hop fan. Diana Krall is outstanding. I'm a big fan of Kacey Musgraves - I've seen her in concert. I like Michael Buble, singers who do the standards. I went to a predominantly black high school many, many years ago and developed a great appreciation for soul/R&B - really like Marvin Gaye, Ohio Players, Earth, Wind and Fire, Bill Withers. My college years were during the height of disco era so that music is fun to listen to...and nostalgic. Also a big fan of Blondie, The Clash, Elvis Costello from the punk, new wave era. I have over 100 play lists on my Spotify and I mix all genres together - it's great when I'm riding my bike by myself to put on a playlist and ride for 30-40 miles. I know you're a blue grass guy and I'll admit I don't know many artists from that genre but I do recognize the talent.

Fun to talk music, doc. Do you play anything ?
A) Popular/Commercial, B) Art/Classical, C/ Folk /Traditional
They are the 3 very general categories of music.
Everything you've been discussing falls in cat A...... of which I have ZERO knowledge.
Don't know much about category B either but respect the absolute elite level of precision musicianship required. My only complaint - it's very tied to written/composed music with little creativity room.
Category C - my focus. Everything from simple, primitive folk melodies and songs to hot pickin jazz and Bluegrass including Old Time Mountain fiddle music. More and more musicians, these days, are sliding from category B to category C....armed with their highest level techniques applied to music that encourages creativity, expressiveness, and feeling.
doc, if you were curious about old time mountain fiddle music I'll be glad to send you one of my CDs (free of course) Just give me an addy.

Yep, everything in group A is tied to how it can be marked / sold, with little regard for quality

Now this is quite a reach, I admit, but regarding the music analogy to the CF all time winning %, Nick would be the category A GOAT and Larry Kehres and Knute Rockne (FBS only) would be the Category B GOATS

Ok thanks. For the 'out there' correlation to CF coaching and GOATS. Coach Nick Saban is the Elvis, Beatles or MJ...whatever Coach Larry Kehres is Niccolo Paganini

Who is the greatest pop/rock star of all time ? The top 10 according to Rolling Stone magazine...I'm sure influential impact, longevity and innovation played into the rankings. We were at trivia on Wednesday and 2 in the top 10 are in the Rock and Roll and Country Music HOF's - one's pretty easy. There are 12 acts total in both the HOF's but the only other one I remember are Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins and the Everley Brothers. Maybe Brenda Lee and Floyd Cramer. 1. The Beatles 2. Dylan 3. Elvis 4. Rolling Stones 5. Chuck Berry 6. Jimi Hendrix 7. James Brown 8. Little Richard 9. Aretha 10. Ray Charles and the next 90....Michael Jackson checks in at #35 www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/100-greatest-artists-147446/aretha-franklin-3-29954/
