I generally try not to comment in these kinds of incidents until more facts are known. Just now, LMPD released body cam video of the initial approach to the scene. One thing is for sure: those cops were heroes.
Louisville police have been taking a lot of flak from all sides in the past few years. They earned some respect yesterday.
This shooter was a young man who clearly had some mental issues. I was 1 year older than he was when I got laid off by Dow Chemical. Never, did I ever consider taking one of my guns (I owned several at the time) and going back to shoot up the place. Our young people today lack coping skills.
I didn’t know any of the victims, personally. But I know people who did. It’s a sad time here in Lou City.

Definite lack of coping skills. Why?
It could be that parent's don't want to do the work of disciplining their children and correcting their behavior and they simply choose to medicate them. This choice is made easy because big pharma advertises we have a drug that will fix that problem. Many of these shooters are/were on psychotropic drugs.
Stop people from claiming poverty when they have a new car with huge payment, cable with 500+ channels, the latest $1,400 iphones, the best Nikes, the best name brand clothing, eating out or getting take out 4 times a week, being behind on the rent.
All of these people demanding $20-25 minimum wage. They don't have a minimum wage problem they have a "wants" problem and not a "needs" problem. They are spending their money on keeping up with the Jones and their children suffer.
Re-incentive the family.
Just spit-balling here.

All the other industrialized nations have young people with "coping " problems, mental health issues etc. etc. but they don't have a. national obsession with large capacity, semi-automatic very easily accessed weaponry......and politicians bought by the gun lobby.

ALL of the others were done with handguns... and, ALL I HEAR from the left is, "let's ban assault rifles". The REAL solutions are harder. We have real "people problems".

Definite lack of coping skills. Why? I really don't know. But, I think a good deal of it is... the loss of religious values. When was the last time a devout Christian was doing one of these shootings? I also think psyche meds have a LOT to do with this... a VERY high % of these shooters are taking serious meds. But, maybe it would be MORE if they didn't have meds? Also, publicity.... We had easy access to guns when I was young. Hell, we literally had them IN OUR CARS in the parking lot, in High School. We never, ever thought of shooting up the school. But then, we'd never heard of anyone doing it. Maybe, if we had, some of our numb nuts would have done it too? We ALL know people who should never be allowed access to guns. They shouldn't even be walking around, un-supervised. But, we no longer have any way of dealing with them. Tons of people in our society are simply not mentally capable of fitting in. But then again, this dude clearly was... until, he wasn't. I wish I had an answer. I don't.

The usual refrain: Pass more common sense gun laws.
Hint: Criminals don't obey laws.

The difference between us and the rest of the world's industrialized nations is : We have guns and people problems. They have people problems without guns. The glut of semi-automatic weaponry ( hand guns + rifles ) = our horrific mass shooting and gun homicide rates
People problems alone are serious but with the ridiculous gun obsession and gun glut of this nation added in it's far, far more tragic and horrific....common sense and common knowledge.

The difference between us and the rest of the world's industrialized nations is : We have guns and people problems. That is FAR from being the ONLY difference between us and the rest of the world. True on both accounts - not the only difference and solutions are difficult. It seems the only proposed solution is to restrict or infringe on the rights of law-abiding people.

Many of the mass shooters were law abiding people. The human brain can be fragile. The unchecked easy access to deadly weaponry can turn a bad day at the office into impulsive rage = tragedy. No reason for our citizenry to have this stuff

No reason for our citizenry to have this stuff you mean, except for the fact that "bad guys" have access to lots of this stuff and the cops CANNOT protect you. Oh, and that pesky constitutional right thing... I'm happy to have discussions about a new amendment. I'm not down with passing laws to overturn a constitutionally guaranteed right.

No reason for our citizenry to have this stuff. Japan, with its clean subways, doesn't have a glut of guns. Why? No other industrializes nation does. It's a global embarrassment
