Honestly, I'd rather see voting age limits from 30-65 This is the core of working class America. By 30, a US citizen should start to understand the concept of paying taxes a little better. IMO, we don't teach out children jack about how the system actually works. And a lot of older people have lost touch with how the system has evolved.

Republicans know that when people vote, it is bad for them. No surprise to see Republican ideas to reduce the amount of people who can vote.
If we are putting age limits, don’t limit a group who actually cares about the future of the country.
Ban people 65+ on their death bed who don’t give a shit about the future, just that they got theirs.

Of course I'm in favor of a renewable ( 5 year ) voting license for national elections and part of that would be the 25-85 voting range....along with "
*passing an 8th grade level civics test *" a world geography test *A 3 digit IQ * a minimum HS education * Clean citizenship standards - no convictions * Having paid or currently paying fed taxes ......a modified democracy, which, IMO will draw far better political candidates/ public servants

Yep, we took civics out of public schools, heaven forbid we teach people how their government works. Much easier to manipulate them.

How would single mother's handle this? Overall, I wouldn't be opposed to it

Yes, and Evil , you equally know the minimum intelligence standard would knock a huge hole in the voting 'base'

Those who can’t pass a civics test maybe be marginalized and unprivileged. Allowing only privileged people to vote creates a bad feedback loop for anyone not in that group. Should someone illiterate be able to vote? I think so.

Because they are citizens and this is a democracy. LOL well, we can all see why you're against a Civics test. You would fail. We're not, and NEVER have been a "democracy". Democracies have been doomed to failure for millennia and our Founders knew that. We are a "Representative Republic". From our founding, there was never the intent that EVERYONE should vote. The original concept was: Those who are most informed vote for people who will spend their time focusing on the tough decisions, while the rest of us go about the business of making things work. The list of voters has been expanded over the years. Not to the betterment of our country, IMHO. People who are directly benefitting, monetarily, from government handouts are conflicted and should be barred from voting. They are guaranteed Democrat votes. Democrats BUY votes, and then act all proud when they are more popular. It would be funny if it wasn't a sure-fire road to ruin.

Do you mean the democratic voting base? Because they've become really really stupid Here's a pretty decent breakdown of the voting elements of each party, although this is probably slightly out of date. You understand what fiscal conservatives are, right? Do you think they would pass your tests? www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2014/07/01/a-closer-look-at-who-identifies-as-democrat-and-republican/

The republicans want the good ole' days, where blacks, women, and poor people couldn't vote as Bevo says: "The list of voters has been expanded over the years. Not to the betterment of our country". I can appreciate your honesty...
I'm not a big fan of restricting who votes, because that has been a way to oppress and marginalize people throughout our history. Those people need a voice.
